Devolutions, a global provider of secure access and IT management solutions, has announced the launch of Devolutions Ventures, a new corporate venture division focused on backing companies and projects across the IT and managed service provider ecosystem. The division will target secure access, network performance, automation, and other critical technologies used by IT teams every day. The announcement, made from Montreal on September 24, 2026, marks a significant formal expansion of the company's investment activities.

Launch and Investment Focus

Devolutions Ventures builds on seven investments, acquisitions, and sponsorships completed since 2025. These include Mizo, dbatools.pro, Obkio, UniGetUI, Avalonia UI, PowerShell Universal, and ControlR, spanning artificial intelligence, network monitoring, open source, and IT automation. Rather than pursuing a traditional consolidation strategy, the new division focuses on building a connected ecosystem of complementary technologies that address the needs of IT teams and MSPs.

The company said individual investments to date have typically ranged from $500,000 to $3 million per company. That range reflects Devolutions' commitment to supporting early and growth stage teams that build essential IT infrastructure, without taking control away from founders. The capital allocation signals a structured approach to venture activity rather than opportunistic deal making.

The portfolio of current investments spans several categories that matter to modern IT operations. Artificial intelligence automation, network monitoring, open source tools, and IT automation are represented across the group. By bringing these technologies into a broader ecosystem, Devolutions aims to create integrations and shared value for its global user base.

Advisory Approach and Portfolio Independence

David Hervieux, Chief Executive Officer of Devolutions, said the company has spent more than 15 years building technology for IT teams and understands the problems they face. He described Devolutions Ventures as an advisory partner rather than a simple investor, aiming to back strong teams for the long term. He added that the company will use its operating experience to help portfolio companies grow.

Companies that receive investment from Devolutions Ventures continue to operate independently, retaining their existing leadership and product roadmaps. They can also tap into Devolutions' global community of more than one million IT professionals across 140 countries, as well as its experience in go-to-market strategy, security, and community building. This support structure is intended to help portfolio companies scale without forcing operational changes.

Mike James, Chief Executive Officer at Avalonia UI, said Devolutions brought much more than capital to the relationship. He noted that the company understands Avalonia UI's customers, its market, and what it takes to build a technology company in this space. That combination of investment and operating experience made Devolutions a particularly valuable partner during the company's next phase of growth.

Future Expansion

Over the next 12 to 18 months, Devolutions Ventures plans to expand its network of investments and partnerships across the IT and MSP ecosystem. The division will build on its existing activity in artificial intelligence, network technologies, developer tools, and open source software. Founders and developers building technologies for IT teams and MSPs can learn more through the company's ventures page.

The focus on MSPs reflects the growing role these providers play in delivering secure access and automation to smaller organizations. Devolutions sees its community and go-to-market expertise as assets that can help portfolio companies scale efficiently. The venture division is expected to evaluate new opportunities that align with these operational priorities.

The launch of Devolutions Ventures signals a long-term commitment to strengthening the IT and MSP technology ecosystem through targeted investment and operational support. By preserving the independence of portfolio companies and offering access to a large global community, Devolutions aims to create value beyond capital. The planned expansion over the next year and a half is expected to deepen its influence across secure access, automation, and network performance.
