GALLOS Technologies, a venture studio specializing in defence and founded by former UK national security leaders, has successfully secured a $50 million investment. This significant capital injection was co-led by Ventura Capital and Aberdeen Investments to fund the next wave of security startups. The funding will bolster the creation and expansion of companies addressing modern geopolitical and digital threats.

Addressing a New Era of Global Threats

The investment arrives at a critical time, with global geopolitical instability fueling a rise in sophisticated digital threats against nations and businesses. GALLOS Technologies positions itself to counter these challenges by nurturing innovative, mission-driven technology companies. This strategic focus aims to enhance national resilience by developing advanced security and defence solutions.

Sir Jeremy Fleming, former GCHQ director and chairman of GALLOS’s Strategic Advisory Board, highlighted the urgency of this mission. He noted that emerging technologies are being rapidly weaponized, creating new vulnerabilities for allied nations. GALLOS's work is therefore essential to improving the protection of both citizens and critical commercial enterprises.

Strategic Investment to Foster Innovation

The $50 million (£35 million) balance sheet investment round was co-led by prominent firms Ventura Capital and Aberdeen Investments. Founding investor Lansdowne Partners also continued its backing, demonstrating sustained confidence in the venture studio's model. The round remains open to a select group of additional strategic investors to further expand its capital base.

This new capital is earmarked for building and scaling a new cohort of early-stage companies within the defence technology sector. GALLOS will leverage this funding to expand its portfolio, which already includes promising startups like StirlingX and AI Score. The investment enables the studio to continue identifying and supporting the next generation of security innovators.

A Platform Built on Expertise and Vision

The unique strength of GALLOS lies in the deep expertise of its leadership team, which is composed of senior veterans from UK special forces and intelligence agencies. This firsthand experience provides an unparalleled understanding of the security landscape and its most pressing needs. It allows the studio to effectively guide startups in developing solutions with real-world mission impact.

Investor confidence is strongly tied to this specialized leadership, as articulated by Mo El Husseiny, managing partner of Ventura Capital. He praised the team's ability to identify and address critical gaps in national defence and resilience. Husseiny described GALLOS as the premier platform for security innovation in an era demanding speed and quality.

As it approaches its fifth anniversary, GALLOS has solidified its reputation as the UK's leading platform for early-stage security and defence technology. The company was co-founded by Dean Jones and has consistently adapted to the rapidly evolving threat landscape. This new funding will empower it to continue building world-class companies that address these complex challenges.

This $50 million investment marks a pivotal moment for GALLOS Technologies and the broader UK defence technology ecosystem. It provides the necessary resources to accelerate the development of cutting-edge solutions for national security. The growth of its portfolio companies is poised to deliver a significant impact on the resilience of the UK and its allies.
