DeepX Secures Over $13 Million in AI Chip Orders in First Year

The on-device AI chipmaker has received 77 purchase orders from over 10 countries worldwide.

South Korean AI chip company DeepX has announced a significant milestone, securing over $13 million in commercial purchase orders for its DX-M1 chip within its first year of mass production. This achievement highlights the strong global demand for its on-device neural processing unit (NPU). The company's rapid commercial success underscores its growing influence in the competitive semiconductor industry.


Accelerated Global Adoption

The company has received 77 cumulative purchase orders from more than ten countries and regions as of July. A remarkable acceleration in adoption is evident, with 48 of these orders placed between April and July. This surge demonstrates a swift transition from initial customer evaluations to widespread product integration.

Significantly, international sales now account for over half of DeepX's cumulative revenue, confirming its successful global market penetration. The DX-M1 chip is being adopted across a wide array of industries, including robotics, smart mobility, and healthcare. This diverse application base showcases the technology's versatility and broad appeal.

Strategic Partnerships and Market Integration

DeepX's success is built on a solid foundation of strategic preparation, including pre-production evaluations with over 400 companies. To facilitate its global reach, the company established a robust supply chain by partnering with 27 semiconductor distributors worldwide. These efforts have been instrumental in scaling operations to meet growing international demand.

The DX-M1 is an ultra-low-power NPU manufactured using Samsung Electronics' advanced 5-nanometer process. It is designed to perform complex AI computations directly on devices, eliminating the need for cloud connectivity. This on-device capability is critical for applications requiring real-time processing and data privacy.

Innovating for the Future

Looking ahead, DeepX is actively developing its next-generation AI chip, the DX-M2. This new processor will be built on Samsung's cutting-edge 2-nanometer process, promising significant performance and efficiency gains. The DX-M2 is engineered to run generative AI models on power-constrained edge devices.

The development timeline for the DX-M2 is ambitious, with prototype wafers expected by March of next year. Following performance verification, DeepX plans to begin preparations for early customer supply in June. The chip aims to operate on as little as five watts, targeting physical AI products like drones and intelligent industrial equipment.
