Decimal AI, a customer engineering platform for technical support teams, announced a $4 million seed funding round. The investment was co-led by Khosla Ventures and Kearny Jackson, with participation from Atlassian Ventures and Weekend Fund. The company also introduced its Customer Engineering Platform, designed to bring engineering-level technical understanding into every customer conversation.
Funding and Investor Support
The seed round was co-led by Khosla Ventures and Kearny Jackson. Atlassian Ventures and Weekend Fund also participated, alongside individual backers such as former Stripe COO Claire Johnson and Anrok founder Michelle Valentin. The financing reflects growing investor interest in AI platforms that reduce the cost and complexity of technical customer support.
Platform Capabilities
Decimal's AI Support Engineer can resolve customer issues end to end, from answering questions to taking account and billing actions. It investigates code, logs, configurations, production data, documentation, and customer history to identify root causes. The system also creates bug fixes for engineering review, allowing support teams to operate with greater technical depth.
Customer Adoption and Results
Since launching in March 2025, Decimal has been adopted by Granola, Resilinc, Tealium, BuildOps, Lucidworks, and a Fortune 5 technology company. The volume of support interactions resolved by the platform grew 15-fold since the beginning of 2026. Resilinc reduced mean time to resolution by 62 percent, from 6.5 days to 2.5 days.
Operational Impact
Granola now manages twice the ticket volume and resolves 70 percent of common questions in chat before they become tickets. Decimal also automates investigations and continuously improves documentation through auto-generated pull requests. According to company sources, this has accelerated resolution times and helped support staff avoid digging through multiple systems manually.
Founding Team and Vision
Decimal was founded by CEO Sanjeet Hajarnis and CTO Kevin Raji Cherian, who previously worked together at Eightfold AI. Hajarnis led AI initiatives at Eightfold as the company scaled past $100 million in revenue, and earlier worked on Facebook News Feed ranking systems and Uber pricing systems. Raji Cherian built Databricks' vector search product and led infrastructure at Eightfold that matched over one billion candidate profiles and jobs.
Investor Perspectives
Khosla Ventures founder Vinod Khosla said support is becoming one of software's biggest hidden costs, and that Decimal changes those economics with an AI platform that understands code and customer context. Kearny Jackson partners Sriram Krishnan and Sunil Chhaya said the founders have the expertise to close the gap between support and engineering. The company plans to use the capital to expand the range of technical issues it can investigate and deepen integrations with support and engineering tools.
Customer Engineering Category
Decimal sees customer engineering becoming its own distinct software category, similar to GTM engineering. The founders argue that customer support should not rely on secondhand product descriptions when the product itself holds the answer. By surfacing evidence immediately after a ticket arrives, the platform reduces escalation cycles for technical issues.
Decimal AI's seed round signals a broader shift toward AI-native customer engineering for technical support teams. By combining code-level investigation with customer context, the platform addresses a costly gap between support and engineering. The company is positioned to expand its category as more software providers seek faster and more accurate issue resolution.
