Colombian proptech startup Duppla has announced the successful closure of a $60 million funding round, a strategic mix of debt and equity. The investment was led by a fund managed by Patria Investments, a leading alternative asset manager in Latin America. This substantial capital infusion is designated to scale the company's innovative rent-to-own model and expand its operational footprint across Colombia.

Bridging the Homeownership Gap

Duppla was founded in 2022 to address a persistent challenge in the real estate market for families with informal income or insufficient savings for traditional mortgages. The company provides a unique pathway to homeownership by purchasing a property selected by the client. The family then rents the home from Duppla, with a clear plan to complete the purchase within five years.

This model allows aspiring homeowners to enter the program with a more accessible 15% down payment, a significant reduction from typical banking requirements. The company's mission stems from a simple question: why should individuals with a consistent payment history be denied a home? To date, Duppla has successfully provided this solution to over 300 families in Bogotá and nearby municipalities.

Strategic Investment for Growth

The $60 million financing round highlights strong investor confidence in Duppla's disruptive business model and its social impact. Patria Investments led the round, joined by notable participants including Skandia Planeación Financiera, the venture capital arm of Skandia Colombia. Additional support came from established firms such as Cometa, Grupo Pegasus, and Nazca, reflecting a broad base of institutional backing.

The newly acquired funds are set to be a catalyst for significant growth, primarily by increasing Duppla's capacity to finance more properties. A core component of the company's strategy involves geographical expansion beyond its initial market. The first step in this nationwide rollout will be the launch of operations in Medellín, a major Colombian city.

A Dual-Sided Investment Platform

In addition to its primary mission of helping families, Duppla has developed a sophisticated residential investment platform. This platform attracts institutional investors by packaging the steady rental income from its portfolio of properties into attractive financial products. This innovative, dual-sided approach creates a sustainable and scalable business model that fuels its core social mission of expanding homeownership.

This landmark $60 million investment positions Duppla to profoundly reshape the Colombian housing market and accelerate its growth trajectory. By creating a viable and inclusive alternative to conventional financing, the company is poised to empower thousands more families to achieve their dream of homeownership. The strong backing from prominent investors validates Duppla's vision and solidifies its role as a leading innovator in Latin American proptech.
