Used car marketplace CARS24 has announced the acquisition of vehicle information platform CarInfo, marking its second major purchase in under a year. This strategic move integrates CarInfo and its companion app, BikeInfo, into the CARS24 ecosystem while allowing both platforms to continue operating independently. The acquisition reflects CARS24’s ongoing efforts to broaden its offerings beyond vehicle transactions and into full ownership lifecycle services.

CarInfo: Simplifying Vehicle Ownership

Founded in 2019 by Sahil Ajmani, CarInfo has positioned itself as a go-to platform for vehicle owners seeking easy access to critical information. The app provides details such as registration records, insurance and pollution certificate validity, FASTag status, and traffic challans, which are often spread across multiple systems. At the time of acquisition, CarInfo was serving over 12 million users monthly, highlighting its strong presence in the automotive information segment.

CarInfo also extends services to buying and selling new and used vehicles, along with facilitating insurance through partnerships with firms like ACKO and Policybazaar. Users can track ownership details, insurance expiry dates, service history, and pending challans directly through the app. In November 2025, the company began piloting a home bike booking and delivery service, signaling its expansion into convenience-based offerings.

Strategic Rationale Behind the Acquisition

Commenting on the acquisition, CARS24 founder and CEO Vikram Chopra noted that vehicle ownership often involves routine lapses, including expired documents or difficulty accessing records. He emphasized that CarInfo’s tools simplify vehicle management for both cars and bikes, making essential information readily accessible. The deal involves CARS24 acquiring 95,000 equity shares from CarInfo’s co-founder Sahil Ajmani and 4,999 shares from engineering head Gurmail Singh, pending execution of the share purchase agreement.

The acquisition is valued at approximately $138 crore, according to regulatory filings cited by Medianama. To facilitate the deal, CARS24’s board approved the issuance of 92,292 compulsorily convertible debentures with a face value of $11.7 and a premium of $14,9701 per share. Once finalized, CarInfo will become a wholly owned subsidiary of CARS24, although its team and standalone apps will continue operations.

Broader Expansion Plans for CARS24

This acquisition complements CARS24’s earlier purchase of automotive community platform Team-BHP, reflecting the company’s broader ambition to expand into complementary auto-tech services. Last year, CARS24 launched its vehicle financing platform, LOANS24, to support car buyers with instant loans. By integrating information and compliance tools with its existing transactional and financial offerings, CARS24 aims to create a more holistic car ownership experience.

The move also positions CARS24 competitively amid a wave of activity in the Indian auto-tech sector. Competitors such as Spinny are expanding through acquisitions like GoMechanic, while CarTrade and CarDekho have explored mergers to broaden their service portfolios. Reports indicate that CARS24, along with CarDekho and Spinny, may pursue public listings in the near future, signaling potential growth in scale and visibility.

By acquiring CarInfo, CARS24 strengthens its foothold in vehicle management and compliance, moving beyond traditional car transactions. The integration of CarInfo and BikeInfo ensures that millions of users continue to benefit from accessible, reliable vehicle data while leveraging CARS24’s ecosystem. This deal underscores the company’s commitment to simplifying vehicle ownership through technology-driven solutions, reflecting a long-term strategy to cover the full lifecycle of car and bike ownership.
