Artificial intelligence and analytics firm C5i has announced its acquisition of Datavid, a UK-based data and AI specialist, for an undisclosed sum. Sources familiar with the matter value the all-cash transaction between $45 and $50 million. This strategic move, C5i's third such acquisition, is designed to significantly enhance the company's capabilities in deploying advanced enterprise AI solutions.

A Strategic Move in Enterprise AI

Datavid specializes in graph data engineering and knowledge graphs, which address a core challenge in corporate AI adoption. These technologies transform fragmented, siloed data into coherent, AI-ready knowledge structures. This foundation allows large language models to reason accurately and generate trustworthy insights for complex business environments.

Ashwin Mittal, Executive Chairman of C5i, emphasized that knowledge graphs provide the critical context for AI to act on enterprise knowledge. He stated this acquisition strengthens C5i's proposition to build intelligent systems that move from insight to autonomous action. The company evaluated nearly 60 firms over 18 months before selecting Datavid as the ideal strategic fit.

Expanding Capabilities and Market Reach

The acquisition immediately expands C5i's geographic footprint by adding delivery teams in the United Kingdom and Romania. This move strengthens the company's nearshore capabilities for its predominantly European and American client base. The integration of Datavid's approximately 120 AI scientists and engineers will also significantly bolster C5i's global talent pool.

A key benefit of the merger is the enhanced value proposition for the life sciences industry. C5i's existing strength in commercial analytics will be complemented by Datavid's deep expertise in R&D and clinical data applications. This synergy will allow the combined entity to offer a comprehensive service portfolio to global pharmaceutical clients and other regulated industries.

Financial and Integration Details

While financial terms were not officially released, industry sources report the all-cash deal is valued at $45 to $50 million. This is C5i's third strategic purchase, following its acquisition of analytics firm Analytic Edge in July 2024. The transaction is structured with a three-year earn-out, aligning the long-term goals of both organizations.

To ensure a seamless transition, Datavid’s leadership team, led by co-founder and CEO Balvinder Dang, will remain with the company. This retention is crucial for integrating Datavid's specialized expertise and maintaining strong client relationships. The acquisition also fuels speculation that C5i may be considering an initial public offering by the end of the year.

Ultimately, C5i's acquisition of Datavid represents a significant step toward enabling more reliable and autonomous enterprise AI. By integrating knowledge graph technology, C5i is better equipped to help clients move beyond predictive insights to automated, context-aware actions. This strategic investment positions the company at the forefront of the evolving AI landscape for global businesses.
