Butterfly Learnings, a pioneering paediatric behavioural healthcare network, has successfully secured ₹65 crore ($7.7 million) in a pre-Series B funding round. The investment was led by Inflexor Ventures and saw robust participation from existing backers, including Enzia Ventures and Insitor Impact Asia Fund. This new capital is earmarked for a major expansion of the company's therapy centre network and a significant enhancement of its technological capabilities.
Addressing a Critical Healthcare Gap
India faces a significant challenge with an estimated 45 million children living with neurodevelopmental disorders like Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. Access to structured, evidence-based care remains severely limited, creating a substantial gap in the national healthcare system. This scarcity of resources often leads to delayed diagnoses and fragmented support during the most critical years of brain development.
Founded in 2021 by Dr. Sonam Kothari and Dr. Abhishek Sen, Butterfly Learnings was established to address this systemic issue through an integrated model. The company provides a full-stack platform offering clinical therapy, inclusive education, and technology-enabled interventions under one roof. Their model aims to own the entire care journey, ensuring accountability and standardized, evidence-based outcomes for every child.
Strategic Expansion and Technological Advancement
With the fresh infusion of capital, the Mumbai-based startup plans a significant geographical expansion beyond its home state of Maharashtra. Currently operating over 90 centres across 22 cities with more than 350 therapists, the company will use the funds to establish a wider national presence. This growth will make its specialized, BHCOE-accredited services accessible to more families across the country.
A key focus of the investment is the advancement of the company's proprietary technology and AI-driven precision care. Butterfly Learnings will scale the deployment of its patented "Get SET Early" eye-tracking tool for early autism screening. This CDSCO-approved solution enables detection in children as young as one year old, facilitating crucial and timely intervention.
Investor Confidence and Market Position
The funding round signals strong investor confidence in the company's mission and its unique data-driven approach to care. Pratip Mazumdar of Inflexor Ventures highlighted the platform's defensibility, anchored by the biomarker data from its screening tool. Continued support from existing investors like Insitor Partners further reaffirms belief in the company's long-term growth trajectory.
This latest round brings the company's total funding to approximately $13 million since its inception, following a ₹32 crore Series A round. The company has demonstrated rapid growth, more than doubling its revenue to ₹15.5 crore in the last fiscal year. This expansion, while also increasing net losses, reflects an aggressive strategy to capture the increasing demand for specialized care.
This strategic investment positions Butterfly Learnings to significantly scale its impact on paediatric behavioural healthcare throughout India. By expanding its physical footprint and advancing its innovative technological platform, the company is set to improve access to vital early diagnosis and intervention. The funding underscores a growing recognition of the need for integrated, evidence-based solutions to support neurodivergent children and their families.
