Conversational AI startup Botmaker is intensifying its commercial strategy to target large corporations after nearly a decade of organic growth. The company is now aiming for a significant milestone of $100 million in annual revenue, which it expects to achieve within the next few quarters. This strategic pivot marks a new phase of aggressive expansion for the firm in the competitive artificial intelligence landscape.


A New Era of Human-Machine Interaction

According to Erick Buzzi, Botmaker's Brazil Country Manager, conversational AI is fundamentally changing human-machine communication. He explains that the paradigm is shifting from people needing to understand machines to technology adapting to human language. The company's platform facilitates this through advanced chatbots, callbots, and mailbots for seamless interaction.

The platform integrates with over 18 conversational channels, including WhatsApp and Instagram, and connects with major business systems like SAP and Salesforce. This versatility allows for comprehensive automation, exemplified by its use with Mercado Livre sellers for autonomous customer service. The ultimate goal is to provide a central conversational brain for businesses to interpret and execute tasks.

Strategic Origins and Global Footprint

Founded in 2016, Botmaker has a unique "Argentine-Brazilian" identity, established by former Google executives from both countries. Argentinian co-founders Alejandro Zuzenberg and Hernán Liendo continue to lead the company as CEO and CTO, respectively. Their Brazilian counterparts, Alexandre Hohagen and Julio Zaguini, now contribute their expertise as advisors.

The company's journey began with a small empanada shop in Argentina before expanding to Brazil in 2018. Today, Botmaker operates globally with its headquarters in Miami and major offices in São Paulo and Buenos Aires. It serves a diverse clientele across more than 40 countries, demonstrating its significant international reach and scalability.

An Aggressive Go-to-Market Strategy

Botmaker has maintained a lean financial strategy, raising a single "smart money" round from Valor Capital in 2019. This investment was sought more for strategic expertise than for capital, as the company has prioritized generating positive cash flow since its inception. This financial discipline has enabled its current self-funded push for major market expansion.

To achieve its ambitious revenue target, the company is pursuing a dual-pronged strategy focused on large enterprises. This involves a more aggressive direct sales approach to major corporations in sectors like finance, telecom, retail, and healthcare. Simultaneously, Botmaker is building a robust ecosystem of independent software vendors and system integrators to broaden its reach.


As Botmaker accelerates its push into the enterprise market, its focus on creating a central conversational intelligence for businesses is clear.
