San Diego-based growth equity firm Blueprint Equity has announced a significant expansion of its team, adding nine new professionals. This strategic growth, representing a 75% increase in staff, follows the recent closing of its $333 million Fund III. The new hires are set to enhance the firm's founder-focused model by bolstering its investment and operational support capabilities.

Strategic Team Enhancement

Blueprint Equity is scaling its operations with clear intention, growing its team to 21 employees since February. This expansion introduces new expertise in artificial intelligence, value creation, and investment execution. The move reinforces the firm's differentiated approach of pairing capital with intensive, hands-on operating support for its partners.

For portfolio companies, this expansion translates into a greater pool of resources for critical growth stages. Founders can now access more support for recruiting executive leadership and modernizing their engineering organizations. The firm will also provide deeper guidance on sharpening go-to-market execution and building systems necessary for rigorous scaling.

Key Appointments and Expertise

The new appointments include several key leadership roles designed to institutionalize the firm's support functions. Kaila Russell joins as Director of Talent, Paul Koch as Head of Artificial Intelligence, and Torian Riley as Senior Associate of Value Creation. The firm also added new associates, a senior analyst, and three analysts to its investment team.

These new team members bring a wealth of diverse experience from investment banking, executive search, and technical product development. Koch, for instance, brings decades of engineering leadership, including seven years as CTO of Chatmeter. Russell previously advised early-stage founders on building their product and go-to-market teams, while Riley adds post-acquisition integration experience.

A Founder-Centric Philosophy

Bobby Ocampo, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, emphasized that the firm's model has always been about providing more than capital. He stated that the new team members strengthen the infrastructure behind that promise. This helps founders build durable businesses without losing the unique qualities that made them successful.

Co-Founder and Managing Partner Sheldon Lewis echoed this sentiment, noting the firm's consistent prioritization of talent. He explained that these additions deepen capacity for both sourcing promising companies and delivering hands-on support post-investment. This combination is crucial as the firm begins to deploy its third fund.

This strategic team expansion marks a pivotal moment for Blueprint Equity, reinforcing its commitment to a hands-on, value-add investment strategy. By institutionalizing its support in talent, AI, and operations, the firm is well-positioned to deploy its new fund effectively. The move underscores Blueprint's dedication to helping founder-led, capital-efficient businesses achieve sustainable, long-term growth.
