Chilean fintech Blanco Financiero, a specialist in digital factoring for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has successfully closed a US$5.2 million seed funding round. The investment was led by Krealo, the corporate venture capital arm of financial services giant Credicorp. These funds are earmarked to enhance the company's AI-driven technology, bolster its financing capabilities, and pave the way for regional expansion.

Strategic Investment and Vision

The round's leadership by Krealo provides significant strategic backing, while initial support came from an investor community via Broota.com. This unique combination offers both the validation of a major regional financial group and the grassroots support of the local ecosystem. Blanco Financiero views this investment not just as capital, but as a strategic alliance to accelerate its growth throughout Latin America.

AI-Powered Factoring Automation

At the core of Blanco Financiero's operations is a sophisticated system powered by artificial intelligence. This technology automates the entire factoring workflow, from the initial reading and processing of invoices to conducting complex risk analysis. The platform can also instantly simulate financing offers, streamlining the application process for business owners.

This high level of automation enables the company to disburse approved funds on the same day, providing critical liquidity to SMEs. Co-founder and CEO Diego Contreras, who previously co-founded Xepelin, highlighted the recent boom in AI as a primary motivation for developing this innovative platform. The firm's commitment to technology is central to its competitive advantage in the market.

Impressive Growth and Future Ambitions

In just two years since its inception, Blanco Financiero has achieved remarkable traction and demonstrated strong market fit. The company has already financed a cumulative US$240 million across its base of 1,600 active SME clients. This activity has translated into a significant annualized revenue run rate of US$8.4 million, signaling robust operational health.

With the new capital, the company plans to solidify its position in the Chilean market before executing its regional expansion strategy. The immediate focus for international growth includes entering the promising markets of Peru and Colombia. This strategic move aligns with the company's long-term goal of establishing a strong presence across Latin America.

Blanco Financiero also aims to diversify its product offerings beyond its core factoring service to become a comprehensive financial partner for SMEs. The company is developing plans to introduce working capital loans and specialized insurance products tailored for businesses. This expansion is a key step toward its ambition of becoming the number one digital bank for SMEs in Chile.

This US$5.2 million seed investment marks a pivotal moment for Blanco Financiero, validating its innovative approach to SME financing. The capital infusion will empower the company to further develop its AI-powered platform and expand its services geographically and functionally. Ultimately, this positions Blanco Financiero to realize its vision of becoming a leading digital financial institution for businesses in Latin America.
