Beyang Therapeutics Raises Nearly $30 Million in Series A Financing

Beyang Therapeutics, an AI-driven drug discovery firm, has successfully secured nearly $30 million in an oversubscribed Series A financing round. The funding was co-led by Legend Capital and Shanghai Healthcare Capital, with participation from several new and existing investors. This capital injection is earmarked to advance the company's proprietary AI platform and its promising clinical and preclinical drug candidates.


Strategic Investment to Fuel AI-Driven Drug Discovery

The financing round attracted a strong syndicate of investors, including China Medical System Holdings Limited, Fenglei Capital, and Harbor & Canton Capital. Continued support was also provided by existing backers Root Venture Partners and YuanBio Venture Capital. These proceeds will primarily accelerate the technological iteration of Beyang's core platform and expand its international research and business development teams.

At the heart of Beyang's strategy is its ExCEED platform, which integrates proprietary databases with advanced AI and computational simulation. This system excels at molecular design, druggability optimization, and biological evaluation, enabling the creation of entirely novel molecular scaffolds. Its precision was recently validated in a global competition, where it ranked among the top participants for its predictive accuracy.

A Differentiated Pipeline Addressing Critical Needs

A key asset in the company's pipeline is BT01001, a small-molecule eye drop developed for treating retinal diseases. Preclinical studies showed its efficacy is comparable to standard intravitreal injections, offering a much-needed non-invasive alternative for patients. Having completed initial safety trials successfully, the therapy is now advancing toward patient studies to confirm its clinical potential.

The company is also developing BT01002, a first-in-class, second-generation Menin inhibitor for specific types of acute leukemia. This candidate was specifically designed to overcome acquired resistance mutations that limit the effectiveness of first-generation treatments. The project is currently undergoing IND-enabling studies and is progressing at a globally competitive pace in its development.

Investor Confidence in a Novel Approach

Qiyue Hu, Founder of Beyang, expressed gratitude for the strong investor recognition, viewing it as validation of the company's platform and pipeline. He stated that as the platform continues to deliver promising candidates, the company is accelerating its proprietary assets. Beyang is also actively pursuing external collaborations to bring high-value innovative drugs to patients and partners globally.

Fei Qi, Executive Director at Legend Capital, noted that AI drug discovery is entering a new phase of vertical integration. He believes Beyang's experienced team has established a distinct advantage with the ExCEED platform's full-chain capabilities. Qi affirmed that experimental data has verified the platform's capacity to consistently incubate high-potential drug candidates.

Echoing this sentiment, Qiushan Guo, President of Shanghai Healthcare Capital, praised Beyang for generating highly differentiated molecules. He was particularly impressed by the next-generation Menin inhibitor's ability to address resistance and the ophthalmic platform's non-invasive delivery. Guo expressed confidence in Beyang's ability to leverage its platform to produce assets with strong global competitiveness.
