betterhood, India's first brand dedicated to preventive pain care, has announced a Seed funding round of Rs 11.5 crore. The round was led by Sauce, with participation from existing investor Kairon Capital. Launched in October 2024 by Vikram Kadam and Neha Zade, the company is addressing early discomfort in the back, neck, and joints before it becomes chronic.

Funding Details and Investor Backing

Sauce led the investment, while Kairon Capital doubled down after making an early commitment to the company when the founders were still defining the category. This backing gives betterhood new capital to scale operations, deepen its product portfolio, and strengthen its community-driven approach. The Seed round underscores investor confidence in preventive care rather than a reactive model that only addresses pain after it becomes chronic.

Market Opportunity and Product Focus

betterhood is targeting a pain care market in India worth roughly Rs 20,000 crore that is growing in the low to mid-teens. Including adjacent spaces such as rehabilitation, fitness tools, and personalised nutrition, the opportunity expands to nearly Rs 35,000 crore. Its product range covers posture and ergonomic supports, orthotic soft goods for the back, knee, ankle, and wrist, as well as pain relief and recovery products.

Education and Physiotherapist Community

The brand separates itself by combining physical products with an education layer that it owns and operates. It publishes articles, hosts expert podcasts, and participates in open forum discussions to help consumers understand musculoskeletal health. betterhood is also building Physio Circle, a nationwide physiotherapist community that already includes more than 7,000 members focused on posture, movement, pain prevention, and recovery.

Leadership and Execution Experience

The founding team includes Vikram Kadam, Neha Zade, Manoranjan Nayak, and Subhanandan Palit, who bring experience across consumer, healthcare, retail, e-commerce, and growth. Shayamal Vallabhjee serves as Chief Science Officer and adds over two decades of sports science experience across elite sport and chronic health. This mix of research-led product development and clinical insight supports the company's ambition to shape the preventive pain care category.

Use of Funds and Growth Plans

The fresh capital will be used to deepen betterhood's product portfolio and expand distribution across quick commerce and modern retail channels. It will also support content growth and the physiotherapist community that anchors the brand's category authority. The company plans to strengthen its team in product development and growth as it scales operations.

Investor and Founder Optimism

Investors view preventive pain management as a large digital-first brand opportunity, especially as musculoskeletal pain affects a wide share of adults and begins at earlier ages. The founders say the investment will help them make pain care a more natural part of everyday life rather than something people address only after pain interferes. They believe staying mobile and pain-free is essential to healthy, independent living and want betterhood to become part of that daily ritual.

A Consumer-First Category Approach

The company's consumer-first philosophy starts from the person and the problem rather than any single product. It is designed for a broad group of Indians who notice early signs of discomfort and want to stay ahead of pain. By addressing posture, support, recovery, and education together, betterhood aims to become a trusted everyday brand rather than an occasional medical purchase.

With its Seed round in place, betterhood is positioned to build a distinct preventive pain care category in India. Its combination of research-led products, education, and a growing physiotherapist community gives the brand multiple levers for consumer trust. The funding from Sauce and Kairon Capital will support the next phase of distribution, product expansion, and community growth.
