Bancoomeva has introduced Scalo, a new technology company designed to serve as its dedicated channel for the Colombian fintech ecosystem. The initiative aims to make financing and financial products more accessible to fintech companies across the country. Bancoomeva projects that Scalo will help place more than one trillion Colombian pesos in credit for the segment over the next four years.

A Technology-First Approach

Scalo combines financial products with a technology platform built from scratch and designed for API integration. This mechanism allows different software systems to communicate and exchange information or specific functions seamlessly. Fintech companies will be able to connect their own systems directly to Scalo and access banking services without developing infrastructure independently.

Products Available at Launch

At launch, Scalo will provide two main services to fintech partners: deposit products and credit solutions. The deposit offering is intended to allow any fintech to offer accounts and other Bancoomeva deposit products through its own platform using APIs. For credit, the company will provide structured debt to fintechs so they can lend under their own models, as well as credit origination where Bancoomeva manages risk.

A Model Inspired by Regional Markets

Scalo seeks to bring to Colombia a model already served by specialized players in markets such as Brazil and Mexico. Its approach combines financial products with a technology platform designed for fast integration rather than requiring fintechs to build banking infrastructure from scratch. The company expects this model to reduce complexity and accelerate time to market for local fintech operators.

Solving Fintech Funding and Deposit Challenges

The new company initially offers deposits and credit products, with plans to expand its portfolio according to market demand. Bancoomeva notes that fintechs often face longer implementation times, multiple providers, and separate processes when seeking financing and deposit capabilities. Scalo is designed to consolidate those needs into a single offering aimed specifically at the sector.

Leadership and Entrepreneurial Insight

Marco Rizo, president of Bancoomeva, said the goal is to make Bancoomeva the bank behind fintechs in Colombia. He emphasized that hundreds of companies are building better financial products but need competitive access to credit, deposits, and other services to grow. Scalo aims to put Bancoomeva's capacity at the service of that ecosystem.

Founder Experience Shapes the Strategy

Juan Camilo Poveda, who will continue as CEO of Mono, explained that Scalo emerged from a direct challenge he and his partners faced while building their business. They found it difficult to secure competitive funding and capture products at the same time for their own fintech. Scalo was created so founders can access both without spending months searching for providers and assembling separate solutions.

A Four-Year Growth Target

With this initiative, Bancoomeva expects to energize Colombia's fintech market by combining its financial strength with a dedicated technology operation. The projection of more than one trillion pesos in credit over four years provides a concrete target for Scalo. Deposits and credit will be the starting point of an offering that can evolve as the ecosystem's needs change.

The launch of Scalo represents a targeted effort by Bancoomeva to integrate itself more deeply into Colombia's growing fintech sector. By offering both funding and deposit products through a single API-based platform, the company seeks to reduce operational barriers for emerging financial technology firms. The planned credit placement of more than one trillion pesos signals a long-term commitment to supporting innovation in the country's financial services market.
