Axogen, Inc. (Nasdaq: AXGN), a global leader in surgical solutions for peripheral nerve restoration, announced on October 1, 2026, that it has completed its acquisition of BioCircuit Technologies, Inc., the privately held medical device company behind NerveTape. The transaction brings BioCircuit's differentiated nerve repair technology into Axogen's commercial portfolio and direct sales infrastructure. The company expects the addition to strengthen its ability to make peripheral nerve function restoration an expected standard of care.

A Sutureless Advancement in Nerve Repair

BioCircuit Technologies, based in Atlanta, Georgia, develops and commercializes medical devices for peripheral nerve repair and neuromodulation, with expertise in biomaterials, precision Nitinol design and manufacturing, and bioelectronics for nerve stimulation and recording. Its first commercial product, NerveTape, is the first FDA-cleared sutureless device for repairing transected nerves. The device offers surgeons a simpler, faster, and more effective option than traditional microsuturing, directly addressing an everyday need in nerve repair.

Leadership Highlights Strategic Alignment

Michael Dale, President and Chief Executive Officer of Axogen, described the completion as a significant day for the company and for the surgeons and patients it serves. He noted that NerveTape represents a new standard of care as the first sutureless nerve repair option and is simpler, faster, and more effective than microsuturing. Dale added that the technology aligns with Axogen's mission and fits with its direct sales organization and hospital contracting capabilities, which can unlock the product's full potential.

Financial Contribution and Guidance

Axogen expects BioCircuit to contribute approximately US$6 million to fourth-quarter 2026 revenue and approximately US$34 million to 2027 revenue. These amounts were not included in the company's most recently issued full-year 2026 guidance of at least 24% revenue growth. Axogen continues to expect gross margin of at least 73% and remains on track to be free cash flow positive for the full-year 2026.

Addressing Peripheral Nerve Injury

Peripheral nerves provide pathways for both motor and sensory signals throughout the body. Traumatic injuries or surgical procedures that affect these nerves can lead to loss of muscle or organ function, loss of sensory feeling, or initiation of pain. Axogen focuses on restoring nerve function and quality of life through innovative, clinically proven, and economically effective repair solutions for surgeons and healthcare providers.

Company Profiles

Axogen is the leading company focused specifically on the science, development, and commercialization of technologies for peripheral nerve regeneration and repair. BioCircuit has been supported by small business funding from the National Institutes of Health along with private investment from Alsora Capital, GRA Venture Fund, Michael Masters of Masters Capital Management, and other investors. The acquisition combines Axogen's commercial reach with BioCircuit's development capabilities in nerve repair and neuromodulation.

Commercial and Market Opportunity

The acquisition adds a commercial-stage device that addresses a clear clinical need in peripheral nerve surgery. Axogen has an established direct sales organization and hospital contracting capabilities that can accelerate adoption of NerveTape among surgeons and healthcare providers. By integrating NerveTape into its existing portfolio, the company can offer a broader set of options for nerve repair and expand its role in the standard of care.

The completed acquisition strengthens Axogen's position in the peripheral nerve repair market by adding a differentiated, FDA-cleared product to its portfolio. It also reinforces the company's strategy to make the restoration of peripheral nerve function an expected standard of care. With unchanged margin and cash flow expectations for 2026, Axogen appears well positioned to capture the revenue opportunity from NerveTape as integration progresses.
