Avarra, a San Mateo, California-based AI avatar platform for go-to-market teams, announced on October 6, 2026, a US$17 million Series A funding round led by Duration Ventures. The round includes participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Draper Associates, the GTMfund, Alumni Ventures, and a strategic investment from Zoom. The announcement follows a year in which the company grew annual recurring revenue more than 400% year over year and expanded from sales training simulations into a full avatar platform.

An AI Avatar Platform for Sales Teams

Most AI companies selling into revenue organizations are betting that automating routine processes will increase sales productivity, while Avarra is betting on the opposite. Durable competitive advantage in go-to-market does not come from completing routine tasks quickly, but from reliably and scalably executing complex sales processes involving sophisticated products and deep industry knowledge. The Avarra platform captures the expertise required to run these processes from leaders and experts, then upskills go-to-market teams by deploying AI avatars.

Avatars prepare representatives before calls, join live deals to answer questions a representative cannot, and meet buyers on the website at any hour. Because the same avatars handle internal and customer-facing work, people and avatars are running one playbook. When the play changes, the update applies universally across the organization.

Customer Traction and Results

Customers including Elastic, Masimo, Proofpoint, Netskope, and Owner.com report that ramp time has been cut roughly in half and that win rates have improved meaningfully. Multiple enterprise customers have deployed Avarra to scale their sales playbook to more than a thousand go-to-market professionals. Contracted annual recurring revenue from mid-market and enterprise customers grew 698% year over year, and sales teams now complete more than 10,000 AI coaching and role-play sessions on Avarra each week.

Blake P. Sallé, Chief Revenue Officer at Proofpoint, said sellers improved 33% from their first attempt to their final one, with better objection handling, value narrative, and discovery after coaching. Kyle Norton, Chief Revenue Officer at Owner.com, built and deployed more than 100 custom simulations using Avarra and said sales representatives now own their own development more. Darrel Mitchell, Director of Worldwide Field Enablement at Netskope, added that sellers rehearse high-stakes conversations before meeting customers, receive scored feedback immediately, and improve with each attempt.

Investor and Leadership Perspective

Zoom CEO Eric Yuan said revenue teams are the engine that drives businesses forward and that Avarra has built a distinctive platform combining AI with the human touch. Arif Janmohamed, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Duration Ventures, said leading this round was a priority because Avarra is defining the future of work. Guru Chahal, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, said the company has seen strong enterprise traction and could become a category-defining platform.

Avarra CEO David Knight said the ability for AI to automate mundane tasks is well documented, but the real power is in upskilling how people execute complex, collaborative, high-value processes. He said every sales leader wants their team to sell the way they would, and Avarra captures how teams actually win. Companies winning with AI are not replacing their people, he said, but investing to make their people irreplaceable.

Planned Use of Funds

The new capital will support engineering hiring, go-to-market hiring, and expansion of the customer-facing side of the platform. Avarra runs natively on Zoom and is available today at avarra.ai, where visitors can talk to an expert avatar in real time. The company says its approach helps people and AI learn from each other by capturing institutional knowledge and putting it to work across the entire team.

Avarra's Series A reflects growing enterprise demand for AI tools that improve complex, collaborative sales processes rather than merely automating routine tasks. The company's 400% annual recurring revenue growth, 698% contracted revenue growth from mid-market and enterprise customers, and backing from Zoom and leading venture firms signal strong market momentum. With fresh capital, Avarra is positioned to expand its platform and continue helping go-to-market teams execute their sales playbooks at scale.
