Ampersand, a San Francisco-based provider of integration infrastructure for enterprise AI agents, has closed a US$15 million Series A funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. Existing investors Matrix and Flex Capital also participated, alongside new backers that include Yelp, Tenacity Capital, CTO Fund, Mana Ventures, and several angel investors. The company announced the round on October 6, 2026, and confirmed that Bessemer Partner Lauri Moore will join its board.

The Legacy System Challenge

Many enterprises are ready to adopt agentic software, but legacy systems of record remain a practical barrier. CRM and ERP platforms have been deployed for decades, and almost every implementation is highly customized. AI-native software vendors often need deep domain expertise before they can deliver value, which slows enterprise adoption and limits the market opportunity for new tools.

Early Customer Validation

John Pena, CTO at Hatch, an AI communications platform for service businesses acquired by Yelp in 2026, said Ampersand enabled the company to serve new customers that were previously out of reach because of complex integration requirements. He noted that Hatch expanded its total addressable market without taking on months of maintenance headaches. The example illustrates how Ampersand can unlock enterprise demand for AI-native vendors.

Bridging Two Software Generations

Ampersand's core approach makes every customer's legacy system legible to autonomous agents. The platform allows end customers to adopt custom data models that handle custom fields, objects, permissions, and workflows, giving agents the necessary context for accurate decisions. Once that context is established, agents can take deep, bi-directional actions inside the CRM and ERP systems of record that power enterprise operations.

Leadership Perspective

Ayan Barua, co-founder and CEO of Ampersand, said the industry is in a moment where AI could transform the enterprise, but CTOs still face the old problem of systems of record. He said Ampersand expects platforms such as Salesforce and NetSuite to remain central to enterprise operations. The company is designed to sit between two generations of software and make them legible to each other.

AI Integration Agent

Ampersand also announced the beta release of Andi, its AI integration agent. Andi helps developers complete the implementation work required to get their products running in each customer's environment. The release aligns with the company's mission to provide a complete integration solution for AI-native companies through infrastructure, deep domain expertise, forward-deployed expertise, and agentic support.

Investor Confidence

Bessemer Partner Lauri Moore said an agent is only as useful as the systems it can reach. She noted that MCP enables agents to describe a tool, but it does not address runtime challenges such as token expiration, schema drift, and differing customer configurations. According to Moore, connecting an agent to a system of record is a demonstration, while keeping that connection alive across hundreds of customers with reliable writes is more difficult.

Founder Expertise

Ampersand's founders bring substantial integration experience to the company. Ayan Barua was CTO and co-founder of Siftery, later acquired by G2, and then VP of Engineering at G2, where CRM and ERP integration work consumed most of his engineering team's time. Lauren Long built Firebase Extensions at Google, and the two spoke with more than 100 companies building integrations before writing Ampersand's first line of code.

With this new capital, Ampersand is positioned to help enterprise AI vendors navigate the complexity of legacy systems of record. The US$15 million Series A will support expanded integration infrastructure and continued development of tools such as Andi. The company aims to make agentic software more practical, reliable, and widely adopted across the enterprise market.
