Altis Labs, Inc., the artificial intelligence endpoint company, has announced the closing of a US$25 million Series A financing round. The investment was co-led by OrbiMed and Qiming Venture Partners USA, with additional support from Innovation Endeavors, Benchstrength, Fusion Fund, and Lumira Ventures through the Cancer Breakthrough Fund. The new capital will be used to expand the company's AI models, scale commercial deployment, and advance AI endpoints as a standard for oncology trials.


Funding Strategy and Investor Support

The Series A proceeds are intended to broaden Altis Labs' AI models across additional cancer types and support rapid commercial expansion with global biopharmaceutical partners. The company also plans to establish AI endpoints as a new measurement standard for oncology trials. These efforts target the high costs, long timelines, and late-stage failure rates that continue to burden therapeutic research and development.

Limitations of Conventional Imaging Endpoints

Oncology trials have long depended on imaging endpoints such as objective response rate, but these measures often fail to capture whether patients ultimately live longer. Drug developers still rely on early endpoints for critical go/no-go decisions, trial design, and portfolio planning, each representing hundreds of millions of dollars in R&D investment. When conventional imaging endpoints fail to predict efficacy, promising treatments may be discontinued prematurely or ineffective therapies may advance into later-stage trials.

Clinical Validation of the IPRO Model

Altis Labs was founded on the premise that AI models trained on real-world survival outcomes can predict long-term clinical benefit earlier than conventional imaging endpoints. Its flagship model, IPRO, automatically generates survival predictions from routinely acquired radiology scans. In a Phase 3 MARIPOSA analysis presented at the 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer, IPRO Response Rate detected a significant treatment effect 11 months before progression-free survival and 26 months before overall survival readouts, while objective response rate did not.

Tal Zaks, Partner at OrbiMed, noted that early efficacy signals often fail to predict whether a drug will truly improve patient outcomes. He said Altis has assembled the industry's most comprehensive longitudinal oncology dataset linking imaging and outcomes to train AI models and has translated that into a validated outcome measure. Anna French, Managing Partner at Qiming Venture Partners USA, added that earlier and more accurate efficacy measurement is one of the most impactful applications of AI in drug development.
