AIONA Corporation, a Tokyo-based developer of AI agents for manufacturing design, announced it has raised a total of 140 million yen through third-party allocation of J-KISS stock acquisition rights and bank loans. The financing was led by ON&BOARD, with participation from GxPartners, Crest Skill Partners, and Mizuho Capital, alongside loans from Aichi Bank and Mizuho Bank. The company said the funds will primarily strengthen its development structure and accelerate the AI agent REVY.

Funding Details

The capital raise combines equity-like J-KISS warrants and debt financing from two Japanese banks. ON&BOARD acted as lead investor, while GxPartners, Crest Skill Partners, and Mizuho Capital joined as subscribers in the third-party allotment. Including the loans from Aichi Bank and Mizuho Bank, the total funding reached 140 million yen, and AIONA stated the fresh capital will support hiring and expansion of its product development capabilities.

A Response to Japan's Manufacturing Design Challenges

Japan's manufacturing sector faces a widening gap as experienced engineers retire and fewer younger workers enter the field, while global competition forces shorter timelines without sacrificing quality. Many design decisions depend on individual tacit knowledge about past failures, preferred structures, and proven thicknesses, but much of this remains undocumented. AIONA warns this knowledge risks disappearing with the departure of veteran designers.

REVY and the Concept of AI-Driven Design

AIONA is not positioning AI as a replacement for human designers. Instead, the company promotes AI-driven design, where artificial intelligence gathers and organizes judgment materials from past technical documents and drawings while people make final decisions. Its core product, REVY, supports quality function deployment, design reuse selection, FMEA, DRBFM, and drawing checks, while capturing new reasoning from AI interactions to build organizational knowledge over time.

How the Funds Will Be Used

The 140 million yen will mainly be used to strengthen AIONA's development organization. The company views the next year as a critical period for building its team and expanding product development capacity. With this foundation, AIONA plans to accelerate REVY's feature development and expand deployments across manufacturing companies, and the long-term vision is to extend value from individual design tasks to the entire design process.

Investor Confidence and Support

Investors expressed strong confidence in AIONA's domain expertise and AI development capabilities. ON&BOARD noted the company combines deep operational design knowledge with a rare ability to translate customer needs into product features, and GxPartners highlighted potential expansion to Kyushu manufacturers. Other investors praised the team's execution strength and its potential to establish a new standard in design and development.

Leadership Commentary

AIONA CEO Tomoyuki Asano said he is pleased to receive support from partners who share the company's vision, emphasizing that Japan's manufacturing holds world-class design knowledge built over many years. Asano explained the goal is not to have AI replace human designers but to allow people to focus on more creative work. The company aims to turn veteran expertise into organizational strength and convert Japan's design quality into global competitive advantage.

With this funding, AIONA is positioned to accelerate REVY's development and help manufacturers preserve critical design knowledge while improving productivity. The company's approach addresses a structural challenge that extends beyond individual firms to the broader competitiveness of Japanese industry. By combining AI support with human judgment, AIONA seeks to enable a new generation of design work that balances speed, quality, and accumulated expertise.
