The Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) and the global tech ecosystem Hub71 have officially opened applications for the 2026 cohort of their Anjal Z fellowship. This initiative aims to attract global startups with innovative solutions for pressing early childhood challenges to the UAE capital. Selected ventures will receive substantial support to localize their technologies and make a tangible impact within Abu Dhabi's growing ecosystem, reinforcing the emirate's commitment to fostering purpose-driven innovation.

A Strategic Partnership for Early Childhood Innovation

This year's program builds upon a strategic agreement that integrates Anjal Z into a dedicated track within Hub71’s renowned Access Programme. The collaboration invites early and growth-stage startups to deploy their technologies in the emirate's supportive environment. Key focus areas include tackling child obesity, enhancing Arabic literacy, and improving child mental health through cutting-edge solutions that can be validated and scaled within the local community.

Substantial Support for Selected Ventures

Five successful applicants will be selected to join the prestigious Hub71 Access Programme, receiving a comprehensive support package to accelerate their growth. Each startup will be awarded $136k , split between $68.06k in incentives and an equal amount via a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) note. This financial backing is complemented by invaluable access to Hub71’s extensive network of government entities, capital partners, and corporate leaders.

Fostering a Thriving Innovation Ecosystem

Since its inception in 2020, the Anjal Z programme has already nurtured over 45 global startups, helping them validate their products and establish a foothold in Abu Dhabi. This track record reinforces the emirate's position as a launchpad for purpose-driven technology founders seeking to make a difference. The program is designed not just to offer resources but to forge partnerships and create clear market entry pathways for long-term success.

H.E Dr. Yousef Al Hammadi of the ECA emphasized the program's goal to "turn ideas into real benefits for Abu Dhabi’s children and families." Echoing this sentiment, Hub71 CEO Ahmed Ali Awan highlighted the long-term societal impact of fostering innovation in early childhood development. Both leaders underscored the importance of strong collaboration to support founders addressing the foundational stages of human development from Abu Dhabi.

Application and Selection Process

The selection process will be spearheaded by Hub71, with the ECA providing crucial input to ensure alignment with Abu Dhabi's strategic priorities for early childhood. Both organizations are committed to the long-term success of the ventures, tracking their progress and impact for up to three years after program completion. This approach is designed to support sustained outcomes and long-term value creation for the community and the startups themselves.

Aspiring startups have until February 28, 2026, to submit their applications for this transformative opportunity to innovate and grow. Interested founders can find detailed eligibility criteria and application forms on the official Anjal Z and Hub71 websites. The program represents a unique chance for startups to scale their solutions within a dynamic and supportive ecosystem dedicated to early childhood development.

The 2026 Anjal Z cohort represents a significant step forward in Abu Dhabi's commitment to pioneering solutions in early childhood development. By combining the ECA's domain expertise with Hub71's powerful tech ecosystem, the program offers a unique platform for global innovators. This initiative not only accelerates the growth of promising startups but also solidifies the emirate's status as a global leader in fostering technology for social good.
