Salvadoran fintech Ábaco is leveraging a recent US$53 million funding round to evolve beyond digital financing into a comprehensive support ecosystem for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The company is launching new business management tools and educational initiatives to empower entrepreneurs in Central America. This strategic expansion aims to address the multifaceted challenges SMEs face, from liquidity to operational efficiency.

From Financing to Holistic Support

In its first three years, Ábaco has already made a significant impact, originating over US$100 million in financing through more than 22,000 disbursements. Building on this success, the company now projects originating over US$350 million in credit for more than 10,000 SMEs across El Salvador, Guatemala, and Costa Rica. This new phase marks a significant scaling of its operations and ambitions.

The company's new strategy recognizes that access to capital is just one part of the equation for sustainable growth. Co-founder Carlos Villalobos stated that businesses also need organized information and effective tools to make better decisions. Ábaco's commitment is to support SMEs throughout their development, not just when they require immediate funding.

Introducing the Business Suite

As part of this evolution, Ábaco has launched its Business Suite, a platform designed to centralize key operational processes. The tool integrates electronic invoicing, real-time inventory tracking, sales and purchasing management, and financial reporting. This allows business owners to gain a clearer, more organized view of their company’s performance in one place.

The Business Suite is positioned as an accessible solution for professionalizing operations, with pricing starting at US$35 per month plus VAT. To encourage adoption, Ábaco is offering referred customers a 50% discount for their first three months. The platform directly addresses the challenge SMEs face in managing their business with multiple disconnected tools.

Integrating Artificial Intelligence for Financial Management

Ábaco is also bringing advanced technology to its clients through a new masterclass on artificial intelligence applied to finance. In partnership with Kodigo, the initiative aims to provide entrepreneurs with practical AI skills for financial management. The goal is to transform AI from a buzzword into a concrete tool for improving business operations.

The four-hour session will cover topics such as AI-driven cash flow analysis, identifying critical expenses, and evaluating financing alternatives. It is designed for business owners, CFOs, and accountants at companies with 5 to 80 employees. To further support the community, Ábaco will sponsor scholarships to facilitate access to this valuable training.

A New Vision for SME Growth

These new services are unified under Ábaco's "Adelantate" initiative, which encourages businesses to anticipate challenges and opportunities. The company is building an ecosystem that combines financing, technology, and knowledge to foster proactive decision-making. This vision aims to equip entrepreneurs to get ahead of their liquidity needs and strategic financial planning.

With its recent US$53 million in capital, Ábaco is strategically repositioning itself as a vital partner for SME growth in the region. By integrating advanced management tools and AI education with its core financing services, the company is creating a robust digital ecosystem. This evolution promises to strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises across Central America.
