Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation, has announced a collaboration with Microsoft to bring the Microsoft for Startups program to its startup community. The partnership gives eligible founders access to cloud and AI technologies, technical expertise, and go-to-market support. It aims to lower infrastructure costs, accelerate product development, and help startups scale from early stage to commercial growth.
Program Access and Benefits
Approved QSTP startups can access US$100,000 in Azure credits, with the opportunity to extend to US$200,000 over two years based on usage. The package includes Azure AI infrastructure and services, GitHub Enterprise, Visual Studio Enterprise, and pairing sessions with Microsoft Azure engineers. Go-to-market resources are also available to help founders reach customers and investors.
Growing Startup Participation
QSTP has nominated 105 startups to Microsoft for Startups, and 47 are now active on the program. The number of active startups has increased from 32 in August, reflecting growing uptake across QSTP's innovation ecosystem. Based on the 47 active startups, the potential value of Azure credits available ranges from US$4.7 million to US$9.4 million, depending on usage and eligibility, and these figures represent maximum potential value rather than a commitment of credits.
Startup Sectors and Development Pipeline
QSTP operates as a national launchpad for science- and technology-driven founders, supporting startups from early validation through incubation, acceleration, scaling, investor readiness, and product development. It works with founders across AI, health and biomed, fintech, sustainability, education, and cybersecurity. The collaboration strengthens that mandate by embedding enterprise-grade technology enablement directly into QSTP's incubation pathway.
Leadership Perspectives
Engr. Ahmed Al-Said, Business Development Director at QSTP, said the collaboration gives founders direct access to world-class cloud and AI capabilities, technical guidance, and global go-to-market support. Ahmad El Dandachi, General Manager at Microsoft Qatar, noted that 47 active startups show ambition translating into deployment. Both leaders emphasized the partnership's role in helping homegrown innovation become real solutions.
Strategic Alignment with National Goals
The collaboration connects startup incubation at QSTP with enterprise-grade cloud and AI capabilities, technical expertise, and commercial support. The initiative supports Qatar's knowledge-based economy, aligns with the goals of the Third National Development Strategy, and helps startups move from development to deployment and scale. It also aims to strengthen Qatar's innovation ecosystem by connecting local founders with global technology resources.
Commercial Impact and Market Access
The initiative targets faster product launches, larger customer bases, and stronger investor interest by converting technical capabilities into commercial results. Access to cloud and AI tools reduces financial burdens tied to technical infrastructure during early growth stages. This supports startups in developing competitive solutions across multiple technology sectors and expanding into new markets.
Ongoing Tracking and Ecosystem Growth
As more QSTP startups progress through Microsoft for Startups, the two organizations will continue to track participation and support founders as they move from development towards deployment, scale, and market growth. The partnership reflects a broader effort to connect Qatar's innovation ecosystem with global technology platforms. It also supports the development of homegrown solutions that can compete in regional and international markets.
The collaboration between QSTP and Microsoft demonstrates a practical commitment to strengthening Qatar's innovation ecosystem and helping technology-driven companies compete internationally. By connecting local founders with global cloud and AI resources, the program aims to transform early stage ideas into scalable commercial products. As participation grows, the initiative is expected to contribute to a diversified, innovation-led economy.
