Lyte Secures $165 Million Series C for Physical AI Sensing

Funding led by Maverick Silicon values the physical AI perception startup at $1.6 billion

Lyte, a California based physical AI perception company, has raised $165 million in Series C funding at a post money valuation of $1.6 billion. The financing brings the company's total funding to $272 million since its founding in 2021. Lyte intends to use the capital to scale production of its sensing silicon and LyteVision platform while broadening deployments with robotics companies and industrial customers.


Investor Support and Board Addition

Maverick Silicon led the round, with participation from Fidelity Management and Research Company, Atreides Management, Key1 Capital and Ora Global. Existing and new investors also joined the financing, and Fidelity previously led Lyte's Series B round. As part of the transaction, Andrew Homan, managing partner at Maverick Silicon, has joined Lyte's board of directors.

The Sensing Challenge in Physical AI

Lyte was created to solve a sensing problem that precedes AI model performance in physical environments. Robots and autonomous machines require accurate spatial data before they can act safely, yet many systems rely on separate components that must be integrated and calibrated. The company argues that this fragmented approach creates latency, calibration drift and other operational issues.

LyteVision Platform and Technical Approach

The LyteVision platform combines 4D coherent vision, high resolution imaging and inertial sensing on a synchronized timeline. Built on Lyte's own silicon, the system measures position and motion directly rather than reconstructing those signals entirely in software. This integrated design is intended to give robotics companies a more reliable perception foundation than off the shelf sensor assemblies.

Founding Team and Semiconductor Heritage

Lyte's founders include former Apple and PrimeSense engineers whose earlier work contributed to 3D perception technologies used in Microsoft Kinect and Apple Face ID. Chief Executive Officer Alexander Shpunt co-founded PrimeSense and later served as a Distinguished Engineer at Apple, while Chief Technology Officer Arman Hajati and engineering vice president Yuval Gerson also held senior sensing roles. Founding investor and chairman Avigdor Willenz brings a record of semiconductor success through companies including Galileo Technologies, Annapurna Labs and Habana Labs.

Production Progress and Workforce Expansion

Since emerging from stealth in January 2026, Lyte has entered production and begun shipping to robotics customers in inspection, logistics and manufacturing. The new funding will help the company scale this output while it advances AI and perception capabilities. Lyte also plans to expand its workforce over the next year across silicon, software, optics, manufacturing, operations and go to market roles, including senior leadership positions.

Strategic Implications for Robotics and AI

The round highlights growing investor interest in hardware and infrastructure that connect artificial intelligence to the physical world. Lyte is not building a robot but is supplying foundational technology that allows autonomous machines to understand their surroundings. Its integrated approach could reduce the engineering burden faced by robotics companies that currently combine sensors and components from multiple suppliers.


With $165 million in new capital and a valuation of $1.6 billion, Lyte has secured significant resources to expand from early production into broader commercial deployment. The company's focus on unified perception silicon, sensors, and spatial software positions it at an important layer of the robotics stack. Lyte's next phase will test whether its integrated sensing platform can become a standard foundation for physical AI across industrial environments.
