Helium Ventures has announced its acquisition of Jitsu, an open-source customer data platform that positions itself as a Segment alternative for collecting and managing event data. Jitsu gathers event data from websites, apps, and servers in real time and delivers it to data warehouses and business tools. The transaction adds a developer-focused data infrastructure asset to Helium Ventures' growing software portfolio and reinforces its strategy of operating technology businesses.
Company Origins and Funding
Founded in 2020, Jitsu participated in Y Combinator's Summer 2020 batch and raised US$2 million in Seed funding led by Costanoa Ventures. Y Combinator, The House Fund, and SignalFire also participated in the round. The company was built to give data teams an open-source platform for collecting customer data and delivering it to their own warehouses.
Product and Platform Enhancements
The pace of feature releases has increased since the acquisition, bringing expanded production self-hosting, new enterprise controls, and broader integration coverage. The July release of Jitsu 2.14 gives self-hosted teams a Kubernetes operator, dedicated function servers, and Kubernetes-native sync scheduling. Audit logs, expiring API tokens, maintenance mode, and event reprocessing give customers more control and a clearer path to recovering failed deliveries.
New Integrations and Developer Tooling
New destinations include Resend, SendGrid, Statsig, DuckDB/MotherDuck, and Xero, alongside expanded authentication options for Snowflake and Postgres. For agencies and technology partners, these integrations mean more client systems can connect through Jitsu with less custom development. These releases build on Jitsu's existing Management API, CLI, and MCP server, which allow developers and AI agents to configure and debug pipelines.
Leadership and Strategic Direction
Rohit Mittal, CEO of Helium Ventures, said the investment is focused on the work customers and partners do every day, including keeping events flowing, connecting more tools, and resolving problems quickly. Vladimir Klimontovich, Jitsu's co-founder and CEO, continues to advise the business, ensuring founder continuity. Helium Ventures was founded by Rohit Mittal and Priyank Singh, who previously co-founded Stilt, and its portfolio includes InsurGrid, Maroo, That's The One, and Jitsu.
Licensing, Pricing, and New Capabilities
Jitsu remains MIT-licensed and free to self-host, with no usage limits. Cloud plans include 200,000 active events per month free, Business at US$99 per month with 2 million active events included, custom Enterprise plans, and additional active events on Business at US$40 per million. With the recent launch of reverse ETL, Jitsu now enables teams to send warehouse data back into business tools, and it also offers managed ClickHouse as a hosted analytics warehouse.
Customer and Partner Impact
Customers do not need to take any action as a result of the acquisition, and existing Jitsu Cloud plans and pricing are unchanged. Faster support and continued development are expected to help teams resolve pipeline issues more quickly. Agencies and technology partners gain more connections to client systems, reducing the need to build and maintain custom integrations.
The acquisition positions Jitsu to continue expanding its open-source customer data platform while preserving the flexibility that attracted its existing users. Helium Ventures' backing is intended to strengthen engineering, support, and integrations, giving customers and partners a more capable platform. As Jitsu adds reverse ETL, managed ClickHouse, and new enterprise controls, the company is aiming to serve data teams with a broader, more reliable pipeline offering.
