Brazilian studio Afterverse is entering a new chapter after Wildlife Studios acquired its PK XD title and other games. The developer will continue to operate as an independent studio, with founders Guilherme Martins and Rodolfo Reis leading the vision and strategy for PK XD. The transaction expands Wildlife Studios' global portfolio to 6 billion downloads while Afterverse retains its product and community focus.

Acquisition Details and Strategic Fit

Wildlife Studios confirmed the acquisition of PK XD and other titles owned and published by Afterverse, although financial terms were not disclosed. Afterverse was created by Movile in 2019 and has surpassed 1 billion downloads across its portfolio. Wildlife Studios, founded in Brazil in 2011 and valued at US$1.3 billion in 2019, now reaches 6 billion downloads worldwide.

The deal reflects Wildlife Studios' strategy of pursuing selective acquisitions of games and studios with growth potential. Guilherme Major, Chief Financial Officer of Wildlife Studios, said that internal game development remains the company's primary growth engine, while acquisitions expand opportunities to invest in titles created by other studios. The company intends to combine its publishing, technology, and user acquisition capabilities with the creative strength of the teams responsible for acquired products.

PK XD Experience and Brand Collaborations

PK XD is an open world mobile game that blends social interaction, personalization, and minigames. Players can create avatars, build and decorate houses, care for virtual pets, and explore different scenarios with friends. The title has already hosted collaborations with well-known brands such as Hello Kitty, Care Bears, and Miraculous Ladybug.

Leadership Perspective

Rodolfo Reis, cofounder and CEO of Afterverse, said the team built PK XD with the ambition of creating a living digital universe where players can express creativity, build relationships, and find new experiences with each update. He emphasized that remaining an independent studio preserves the team's proximity to its community and its ability to develop the game based on that knowledge. At the same time, the partnership with Wildlife Studios provides an opportunity to bring PK XD to new levels.

Reis also stated that the goal is for PK XD to continue surprising players with new ways to create, explore, and have fun with friends. He said the studio looked for a partner that shared its ambition for the game and found that in Wildlife Studios. The next chapter involves continuing the evolution of PK XD, preserving the elements that built its community, and exploring new possibilities for the game universe.

What the Acquisition Means for Both Companies

Under the new ownership structure, Afterverse will remain responsible for the development and operation of PK XD. Its founders will remain at the helm of the game's vision and strategy, ensuring continuity for players. Wildlife Studios becomes the new owner of the titles developed and published by Afterverse, with PK XD as the highlight.

Wildlife Studios is a global developer and publisher of mobile games and applications, with a portfolio that includes Tennis Clash, Sniper 3D, Zooba, and PK XD. The company was founded in Brazil in 2011 and became known as the first Brazilian gaming unicorn after a US$1.3 billion valuation in 2019. Its combined portfolio now surpasses 6 billion downloads around the world.

The acquisition highlights how a Brazilian studio can preserve its creative identity while gaining access to global scale and distribution support. Afterverse will continue to lead PK XD's development, keeping the community at the center of its decisions while benefiting from Wildlife Studios' infrastructure. The move reinforces the international relevance of Brazilian mobile gaming companies and sets the stage for the next phase of PK XD's growth.
