Australian sports technology platform Nardo has successfully closed a AUD$1 million pre-seed funding round, attracting investment from former Socceroo Tim Cahill, who also joins as a strategic partner. The company aims to revolutionize how amateur sports clubs manage team apparel by digitizing a traditionally complex and manual process. This new capital injection is set to fuel Nardo's ambitious expansion plans across the United States, United Kingdom, and the Middle East.

Addressing a Systemic Challenge

Nardo was founded in 2023 by Beau Catley, co-founder of streetwear label Geedup Co, after he discovered the severe inefficiencies in the teamwear supply chain. A simple request from a local sports club revealed a convoluted system involving more than 130 separate touchpoints to outfit a team. This firsthand experience highlighted a significant operational problem that was ripe for technological disruption and became the catalyst for Nardo's creation.

To develop a scalable solution, Catley partnered with co-founders Rhys Adams and Adam Famularo, combining their expertise to build a global technology business. The team worked directly with grassroots soccer and rugby league clubs to meticulously map the entire end-to-end apparel process. This foundational research ensured the platform was built to solve the real-world challenges faced by club administrators and volunteers on a daily basis.

A Centralized Digital Solution

The company's proprietary software, Nardo Experience, serves as a digital infrastructure layer that consolidates the entire teamwear lifecycle into a single, intuitive workflow. The platform enables clubs to design custom apparel ranges, generate digital lookbooks, and access live pricing and quoting instantly. This centralized system is designed to eliminate the friction and ambiguity that has long plagued the grassroots sports sector.

Beyond design and ordering, the platform manages complex approval and sampling workflows and provides real-time tracking for production and delivery. By connecting clubs directly to a global manufacturing network, Nardo offers greater customization, faster turnaround times, and improved cost efficiency. This gives amateur organizations a level of operational control and professionalism previously reserved for elite clubs.

Strategic Partnership and Vision

The involvement of football icon Tim Cahill as both an investor and strategic partner provides a significant boost to Nardo's mission. Cahill stated that local clubs have been stuck with outdated systems for too long and that Nardo provides better tools and a more professional experience. He believes the platform is essential for strengthening club identity and supporting the heartbeat of the game at the community level.

Cahill was particularly impressed that Nardo is a technology company solving a core operational problem, not just another apparel business. He sees a massive global opportunity for the platform to genuinely change how grassroots sport operates around the world. His partnership will be instrumental in guiding the company's strategy as it scales internationally and connects with sporting communities.

Global Expansion and Market Focus

With its new funding, Nardo is poised to accelerate its commercial expansion into key international markets. The United States represents a primary growth market, driven by the immense scale of its youth and grassroots sports ecosystem. The company is also establishing a strong pipeline of clubs preparing to onboard in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the Middle East.

Nardo's successful pre-seed round and its strategic alliance with Tim Cahill signal a pivotal moment for modernizing the infrastructure behind community sports. By equipping amateur clubs with the world-class systems they deserve, the platform is set to simplify a universally complex process. This investment validates Nardo's vision and fuels its mission to deliver a seamless, professional experience to the core of grassroots sport globally.
