New Zealand founded marketing technology company Thread has officially launched across Australia and New Zealand, bringing a single platform for campaign activity, investment, performance and decision making context. Its goal is to close the gap between the amount of marketing data available and the usable intelligence teams can access. Early customers include DB Breweries, ANZCO Foods, FreshChoice supermarkets and Metlifecare.

Closing the Marketing Memory Gap

Thread addresses a challenge that co-founder Troy Fuller describes as marketing's missing memory. Campaign knowledge often remains scattered across reports, inboxes, presentations and the minds of employees who may have left the business. The platform captures briefs, media plans, budgets, creative work, results and lessons so teams can understand what happened, what was achieved and why.

How the Platform Works

Thread's Track feature records marketing activity across campaigns, product launches, shopper promotions and always on social media. Its Smart Add tool lets users upload existing documents such as briefs, media plans, budgets and post-campaign reviews into a structured framework. The Ask Thread function allows marketers to ask natural language questions about their campaign history and performance.

AI Built on Structured Campaign Context

The company positions its AI chat across hard data such as investment, sales performance and objectives as well as contextual richness including strategy and creative choices. Thread's founders argue that generic AI can surface confident but incorrect answers when applied to unstructured company files. The proprietary framework is designed to extract only relevant and correct data points, helping maintain marketer trust.

From Frustration to Product

Troy Fuller spent two decades watching campaign results arrive and insight evaporate across agencies in New Zealand, Australia and London. He found that few campaigns end up in post-campaign reports, and even those lessons often remain unused in static presentations. The idea for Thread emerged after two clients asked him to review marketing tracking spreadsheets within weeks of each other.

Platform Differentiation and Onboarding

Thread positions itself apart from brand tracking, media dashboard and attribution platforms by also capturing recommendations, creative decisions and campaign context. Clients can be up and running within a day by uploading existing briefs, media schedules and agency documents into the platform. The system then maps that information into Thread's framework automatically, reducing onboarding friction.

Early Customer Traction

ANZCO Foods is using Thread for its Angel Bay brand and has added $3.5 million of marketing activity dating back to 2022. Marketing manager Becky Turnbull said campaign history was previously split between a server and an inbox, but the team now has one shared source. DB Breweries provided input during early development, FreshChoice supermarkets is joining the platform, and Metlifecare was signed within a week after a cold pitch.

Leadership and Market Ambition

Thread was founded by Troy Fuller and Phil Newman, two Auckland based specialists with deep backgrounds in advertising and technology. Fuller has more than 20 years of advertising experience across New Zealand, Australia and London, while Newman has worked in production, operations and AI. The company is currently bootstrapped and in early discussions for a capital raise, with plans to expand in Australia and beyond.

Thread's launch addresses a longstanding challenge for marketing teams that often have more data than usable intelligence. Its early customers across brewing, food, retail and aged care suggest demand for a single marketing system of record. As the founders pursue further growth in Australia and beyond, they are focused on turning fragmented campaign activity into a reliable foundation for better marketing decisions.
