Tessolve Semiconductor, a Hero Electronix company, has raised US$75 million in a funding round led by U.S.-based strategic investment firm Vector Line Capital. The investment marks Vector Line's first in India and follows a US$150 million investment by TPG announced about 13 months earlier. The company said the proceeds will support growth, including strategic acquisitions that complement its capabilities, expand its service offerings, and strengthen its global presence.
Funding Purpose and Acquisition Plans
The company plans to use the capital for acquisitions that add capabilities, widen its services, and extend its global reach. Tessolve said it is in advanced discussions to close multiple deals over the next couple of quarters, though it did not name targets. The announcement did not disclose Vector Line's stake, the valuation, or whether the funding is new capital, a purchase of existing shares, or a combination of both.
Company Overview and Capabilities
Founded in 2004 by Srini Chinamilli, Tessolve provides turnkey solutions across chip architecture, design, validation, testing, and embedded systems. It employs more than 3,500 engineers across 10 countries and operates nine laboratories globally. The company partners with leading foundries, intellectual property providers, electronic design automation companies, and test equipment manufacturers while offering end-to-end design capabilities in AI, high-performance computing, and analog and mixed-signal chips.
Customer Base and Market Position
Tessolve serves semiconductor companies, hyperscalers, chip startups, and system companies across AI, high-performance computing, automotive, data centers, and industrial applications. The company says it counts 18 of the world's top 20 semiconductor companies as customers and works with leading hyperscalers. Its end-to-end capability allows it to design a complete semiconductor in-house, from architecture through validation and test to embedded systems.
Financial Performance and Growth Targets
Tessolve reported revenue of ₹1,526 crore in FY26, up from ₹1,157 crore a year earlier, an increase of about 32%. In September, CEO Srini Chinamilli said the company expects to exceed ₹2,000 crore in FY27 and is targeting more than US$500 million within three to four years. He also called an initial public offering a definite possibility, though formal preparations had not begun.
Investor Profile and Strategy
Vector Line Capital invests exclusively in semiconductors and the semiconductor supply chain and manages more than US$1.6 billion. It was founded by Geoffrey Baldwin, a former senior technology investment banker who co-founded GCA Advisors and later served as Co-Chairman of Houlihan Lokey's global technology group. Baldwin said semiconductors are becoming extremely complex, pushing technology companies to seek engineering partners that can manage the entire development cycle.
India's Expanding Semiconductor Push
The funding arrives as India broadens its semiconductor strategy beyond fabrication. In July, the Union Cabinet approved the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission with a ₹1.27 lakh crore outlay, naming chip design among its six focus areas. Tessolve said it is actively participating in the country's ecosystem by supporting new foundries, OSATs, and chip startups across the engineering value chain.
With this US$75 million investment, Tessolve gains additional financial capacity to execute strategic acquisitions and extend its global footprint in semiconductor engineering. The deal adds Vector Line Capital to an investor base that includes TPG, Novo Tellus Capital Partners, and Hero Electronix. It also highlights increasing investor confidence in India's chip design and engineering services industry as global semiconductor complexity rises.
