Terminal, a talent platform for hiring AI-fluent software engineers in more than 180 countries, has acquired Stationed AI to launch a new services division called Terminal AI. The Miami-based company announced that the new division will embed forward-deployed engineers inside businesses to build working AI solutions in weeks, not months. The move aims to make practical AI engineering accessible to mid-market companies that lack enterprise-sized budgets and dedicated AI teams.

Acquisition Combines Talent Sourcing with Deployment Expertise

Terminal has spent nearly a decade sourcing, vetting, and hiring elite software engineers for companies across more than 180 countries. Stationed AI was founded by Ja’dan Johnson to move beyond recommendations and prototypes by placing engineers alongside operators. The combined capabilities create a builder-first delivery practice that connects AI talent with real business workflows.

A Different Bet on the Mid-Market

While OpenAI, Anthropic, and large consulting firms race to bring AI into major enterprises, Terminal is pursuing a different opportunity. According to Boston Consulting Group, nearly 9 in 10 CEOs report cost or revenue benefits from AI in targeted areas, but those results come from large enterprises with significant resources. Terminal AI is designed for millions of businesses that have the ambition to use AI but lack the budget and internal teams to execute.

A Delivery Model Built Around Painful Workflows

Each Terminal AI engagement begins with a company’s most painful workflow rather than months of strategy and consulting. Forward-deployed engineers embed with the business, learn how work gets done, and build custom AI agents, automations, and integrations. Companies aiming to supercharge go-to-market engines or streamline manual operations are already seeing success with these deployments.

Three Connected Services Support Scaling

The Terminal AI offering includes three connected services called Deploy, Hire, and Train. Deploy places forward-deployed engineers inside a company to attack high-value workflows and deliver working solutions. Hire allows businesses to scale engagements or bring dedicated talent onto their teams, while Train provides practical training and role-specific playbooks to build organization-wide AI fluency.

Leadership Views the Moment as a Capacity Problem

Dylan Serota, CEO and co-founder of Terminal, said that ambition has never been the scarce resource and that capacity has. He emphasized that the AI industry is pouring billions into transforming the world’s largest enterprises while millions of businesses are being left behind. Ja’dan Johnson, who will lead Terminal AI as General Manager, added that customers know their business and Terminal AI knows the technology, but the hard part is putting AI into practice across systems, data, and workflows.

Extending Terminal’s Track Record into Services

For nearly a decade, Terminal has helped companies like Hims & Hers, Calendly, and GoPro source, vet, and hire elite engineers. The acquisition of Stationed AI extends Terminal from a talent platform into a hands-on AI services business. This allows a 200-person company to bring in engineers, hire the talent needed to scale, and equip its own teams to continue the work.

Terminal AI represents a deliberate effort to shift the benefits of AI beyond the Fortune 500. By embedding real builders inside businesses, the company is betting that practical deployment can deliver results where consulting alone has not.
