Tenstorrent, the AI computing company led by CEO Jim Keller, announced on October 19, 2026, that it closed US$1.5 billion in Series E funding at a US$6.2 billion post-money valuation. Trace Capital and Innovation X led the round, with participation from ARK Invest, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Morgan Stanley, and Tether Investments. The company plans to use the capital to expand volume manufacturing and accelerate global commercial deployment of its Galaxy servers and AI compute platforms.

Funding Details and Valuation

Trace Capital and Innovation X led the Series E, with additional commitments from a broad group of institutional and strategic investors. The syndicate includes Agostinelli Group, Cadence Ventures, Eclipse, Maverick Silicon, Sandisk, T. Rowe Price, Troluce Capital, Virtu Financial, and XTX Markets. At a US$6.2 billion post-money valuation, the round underscores investor confidence in Tenstorrent's open and scalable approach to AI compute.

Capital Deployment and Product Expansion

Tenstorrent will direct the new funding toward deploying Galaxy servers at scale and continuing to serve open-weight models across large language models and video generation. The company also intends to advance the AI and CPU intellectual property it licenses to customers designing their own silicon. These efforts support chip designers, sovereign players, and inference platforms that want to own their AI compute infrastructure.

Open Architecture Across the AI Stack

Tenstorrent sells AI compute at every level of the stack, from single cards and workstations to full racks, superclusters, and custom IP. Its open-source software stack allows developers to run frontier models locally while enterprises can deploy models on-premises with competitive latency and throughput. The company positions this flexibility as a direct response to demand for more control over AI infrastructure.

Leadership and Investor Commentary

CEO Jim Keller said the company built one architecture and sells it at every size, adding that the future of compute is open, scalable, and owned by builders. Ben Mahdavi, founder at Trace Capital, pointed to the team's decades of silicon, software, and IP experience and said he is excited to partner as Galaxy scales. George Bousis of Protagonist noted that Tenstorrent's video generation results beat industry benchmarks, prompting the firm to double down.

Company Background and Strategic Position

Tenstorrent is led by Jim Keller, the architect behind Apple A4 and A5, AMD Zen, and Tesla's Full Self-Driving chip. The company builds RISC-V-based AI processors and systems for developers, enterprises, and sovereign infrastructure worldwide. Beyond servers and workstations, Tenstorrent licenses its TT-Ascalon RISC-V CPU and Tensix AI cores to chip designers including Samsung and LG.

Investor Base and Global Footprint

Existing backers include Bezos Expeditions, Samsung, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor Group, and Fidelity Management & Research Company. Tenstorrent operates from Santa Clara, Austin, Toronto, Belgrade, Tokyo, and Bangalore. This global footprint supports the company's ambition to serve customers that are designing their own AI silicon and deploying sovereign compute capacity.

The Series E round positions Tenstorrent to scale manufacturing and commercial operations as demand for owned AI infrastructure grows. By pairing RISC-V-based processors with an open-source software stack, the company is targeting a market shift away from closed compute models. With new capital and a broad investor syndicate, Tenstorrent aims to expand its Galaxy deployments and strengthen its role in the evolving AI compute landscape.
