Solvera, an Oslo-based company building an AI-native engineering firm for the construction industry, has raised US$6.3 million in a Pre-Seed funding round led by Seedcamp. The startup combines experienced building engineers with a proprietary operating system that uses AI agents to automate a growing share of engineering work. The new capital will support team expansion in Oslo, the establishment of a London office, and further development of its technology platform.

A New Engineering Model

Rather than selling software licenses or charging for consulting hours, Solvera delivers end-to-end engineering services as the firm of record and charges clients for completed outcomes. The company takes projects from initial requirements and constraints through coordinated, construction-ready designs, with AI agents handling an increasing share of engineering work. Its operating system improves with every project by capturing engineering knowledge and converting human judgment into reusable intelligence across the firm.

Starting with MEP Engineering

The company is initially focused on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, a discipline that requires managing hundreds of requirements and coordinating multiple trades throughout construction. Much of this work remains manual, fragmented, and repeated across projects, forcing engineers to navigate dozens of legacy tools and adapt designs continuously. Solvera's AI agents handle tasks such as testing alternatives, coordination, and production work, while experienced building engineers provide judgment on key decisions.

Founder Vision

Arif Mirza, co-founder and CEO, said that twenty years of better engineering software and recent AI advances have barely shifted productivity or the fundamental way engineering is delivered. He added that capturing the full potential of technology requires rethinking how the firm operates and makes money, which is difficult inside organizations built around billable hours. Co-founder and CTO Pål Rasmussen noted that the most valuable asset in building engineering has always been the engineer's judgment, and Solvera aims to free up time for high impact decisions.

Early Commercial Traction

Since beginning operations in July 2026, Solvera has passed US$1 million in contracted revenue within its first three months and grown to a team of nine. It is already engaged on several building projects in Norway, spanning early-phase engineering through detailed design, including commercial projects with contractor Betonmast. Kristian Gjestemoen, Managing Director at Betonmast Buskerud-Vestfold, said the company chose Solvera because fragmented engineering drives unnecessary cost, slow iterations, and problems discovered too late.

Funding and Expansion

The new funding will be used to expand Solvera's building engineering and technology team in Oslo, establish a London office, and accelerate development of its operating system. The round includes participation from Construct Venture, Inception Fund, Momentum, Obos Ventures, PSV Tech, Sondo, and The Nordic Web Ventures, alongside angel investors including Spacemaker founders Anders Kvåle and Håvard Haukeland. Seedcamp Partner Tom Wilson said the investment reflects confidence in a team that is rebuilding the engineering firm itself rather than adding another software tool.

Solvera's early contracts and investor backing suggest that outcome-based engineering delivery may resonate in a construction sector seeking faster and more reliable project coordination. The company plans to enter additional markets as its business model matures, with London serving as an early international base. By aligning AI automation with professional engineering judgment, Solvera is positioning itself as a next-generation engineering firm rather than a conventional software vendor.
