Indian advanced materials startup Scimplify announced a $25 million strategic funding round on October 14, 2026, to expand its specialty chemicals manufacturing capabilities and international operations. Led by Hitachi Ventures, the investment brings together industrial partners and existing venture capital backers. The Bengaluru-based company aims to accelerate the transition from laboratory-scale innovation to commercial production as manufacturers seek more diversified supply chains.

Strategic Funding and Investor Participation

Hitachi Ventures led the round, with Henkel and Teknor Apex joining Scimplify as new strategic investors. Existing investors Accel India, Bertelsmann India Investments, Omnivore, and 3one4 Capital also participated, bringing Scimplify's total equity funding to approximately $80 million. The combination of industrial investors and established venture firms reflects interest in manufacturing platforms that can connect scientific development with reliable production capacity.

Scimplify said the new corporate partnerships are intended to strengthen its credibility with international manufacturers and create opportunities for longer-term collaboration. Teknor Apex is also expected to support the startup's expansion as a manufacturing partner in the United States. The involvement of major materials companies could provide additional commercial relationships alongside the capital needed to expand research and production capabilities.

From Laboratory Research to Commercial Manufacturing

Founded in 2023 by Sachin Santhosh, Salil Srivastava, Dheeraj Dhingra, and Hersh Manek, Scimplify works with companies developing complex chemicals and advanced materials. Its services encompass research, process development, technical validation, manufacturing partnerships, and commercial-scale supply. The business addresses a persistent industry challenge in which promising laboratory results do not automatically translate into consistent, cost-effective industrial production.

The company operates research facilities in Bengaluru and Hyderabad while working with a network of more than 500 manufacturing partners. Its teams develop and validate production processes before collaborating with qualified facilities to manufacture materials at scale. This approach is designed to connect available industrial capacity with specialized research expertise and the quality standards demanded by global customers.

AI Platform Supports Production Decisions

Scimplify uses its proprietary platform, SciNode, to support the complex decisions involved in specialty chemical development and manufacturing. The system helps evaluate production methods, identify appropriate facilities, and coordinate activities spanning research, sourcing, quality, and regulatory requirements. Combining technical data with manufacturing information is intended to improve efficiency as materials progress through testing, qualification, and production.

The company is investing further in SciNode as it expands the range of materials and industrial applications it can support. Its broader strategy combines digital tools with laboratory scientists, engineers, and established manufacturing infrastructure rather than relying on software alone. This integrated model seeks to reduce the operational barriers that can prevent new materials from reaching commercial customers.

International Expansion and Critical Materials

Scimplify plans to deepen its presence in the United States, Europe, and Japan while adding research capabilities and manufacturing partnerships. In the United States, its focus includes processing critical metals and rare earth materials alongside high-purity chemicals used in semiconductors and batteries. The expansion responds to manufacturers seeking alternative supply options for materials used in strategically important industries.

Demand for advanced materials is rising across electronics, energy infrastructure, aerospace, and defense, creating new requirements for dependable specialized production. Scimplify says it serves more than 1,000 customers and has developed business relationships across dozens of countries. Its latest investment is intended to extend that reach while strengthening technical capabilities and manufacturing reliability in key markets.

The $25 million round gives Scimplify additional resources to develop its technology and establish manufacturing relationships beyond its existing network. Backing from Hitachi Ventures, Henkel, and Teknor Apex also strengthens its ties with companies active in global industrial supply chains. Its next challenge will be translating that support into expanded production capacity and consistent delivery of specialized materials across international markets.
