Rocket Software, based in Waltham, Massachusetts, announced on October 13, 2026, that it has acquired Geniez AI, a generative AI company with expert AI agents operating directly on the mainframe. The acquisition brings Geniez AI's technical leadership and team to Rocket Software to accelerate AI initiatives, including new capabilities within the Rocket EVA platform. Together, the companies aim to shift mainframe management from traditional, expertise-intensive operations to intelligent, AI-assisted operations.

Strategic Rationale and Vision

Milan Shetti, president and CEO of Rocket Software, said the acquisition continues transforming what is possible on the mainframe. He emphasized that bringing Geniez AI's specialized expertise into Rocket accelerates the company's vision to help enterprises securely apply agentic AI with speed, confidence, and control. The deal supports Rocket's strategy to modernize core systems while safely extending agentic AI to the mission-critical workloads that run on them.

Founder Perspective

Gil Peleg, CEO and co-founder of Geniez AI, said the company was founded on the belief that generative AI business applications can fundamentally change how enterprises understand and operate mainframe environments. He noted that joining Rocket provides the scale, customer reach, and deep mainframe expertise needed to bring that vision to more organizations. Peleg added that the combined team will help shape the next era of intelligent, mission-critical operations.

Expanding AI and Mainframe Talent

The acquisition expands Rocket's specialized AI and mainframe talent by bringing Geniez AI's technical leadership and engineering team into the company. It is also expected to accelerate Rocket's agentic AI roadmap by adding frontline insight into how enterprises evaluate and adopt AI on the mainframe. This combined expertise is intended to help the company deliver new Rocket EVA capabilities with greater speed and focus.

Closing the Mainframe Skills Gap

Rocket aims to help enterprises turn institutional knowledge into actionable intelligence so that complex systems become more accessible to experienced teams and newer talent. This focus directly addresses the mainframe skills gap that many organizations face as veteran experts retire. By embedding expert AI agents, Rocket and Geniez AI intend to make core systems easier to understand and manage for a broader workforce.

Governance and Control for Core Systems

The combined capabilities support AI-assisted operations that help teams surface insights, take action, and automate mission-critical workflows with appropriate governance and control. Rocket said the acquisition raises the standard for mission-critical modernization by advancing a future where enterprises can modernize core systems with greater speed, resilience, security, and operational confidence. This focus is central to helping enterprises apply agentic AI safely across their most important workloads.
