Reliable Robotics, a leader in autonomous aircraft systems, announced on October 20, 2026 that it has raised US$115 million in new capital from its headquarters in Mountain View, California. The additional funding upsizes its previously announced US$160 million Series D round to US$275 million because of increased investor demand. The investment includes a US$25 million term loan from Silicon Valley Bank and pushes the company's valuation above US$1 billion.

Funding Details and Investor Support

The expanded Series D round was led by returning investor Nimble Partners. New investors include Gideon Capital, RockCreek, Geek Ventures, Gold Hill Capital, and Sparkwave Capital, alongside continued participation from returning investor Island Green Partners. Allen & Company supported the Series D fundraise, and Reliable Robotics has now raised more than US$380 million in equity capital to date.

Technology Built for Certified Autonomy

Reliable Robotics is developing the Reliable Autonomy System, known as RAS, and the Reliable Radar to reduce aviation's most common causes of accidents. These include loss of control and controlled flight into terrain, and the technology is designed to integrate with existing aviation infrastructure and certified aircraft. The company states that commercial operations will require no changes to the National Airspace System for integration.

Commercial and Defense Momentum

The RAS is a dual-use safety technology with both commercial and military applications. Reliable Robotics has secured contracts with multiple branches of the U.S. military and completed several military airworthiness reviews with the U.S. Air Force. Its selection in the Federal Aviation Administration's Advanced Air Mobility Integration Pilot Program supports pre-certification cargo operations to small and rural communities across New Mexico and Colorado.

FAA Certification Progress

Reliable Robotics is certifying the RAS for commercial operations in the United States with the FAA on the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan. The company says the RAS is the first FAA-certifiable system enabling full gate-to-gate automated operation of an aircraft. It also reports having the only FAA accepted certification plan, means of compliance, and closed issue papers for continuous autopilot engagement.

Expansion Plans

The new funding will help expand the company's fleet of aircraft and production facilities while rapidly scaling its engineering team across multiple locations. Reliable Robotics is also opening two new offices in Seattle, Washington, and San Diego, California, to support its growing engineering and radar programs. These locations add to the company's existing footprint in Mountain View and San Martin, California, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, strengthening its national presence.

Workforce and Radar Growth

The company recently grew its global team to more than 250 people and is hiring aggressively across all engineering roles, including avionics, software, and systems engineering. Reliable Robotics will develop a center of excellence for its radar program in Seattle while adding talent across its offices. The new capital is expected to support the expansion of aircraft, production facilities, and engineering capacity as the company scales.

With a valuation above US$1 billion and a total of US$275 million raised in its Series D round, Reliable Robotics is positioned to accelerate certification and production of its autonomous flight systems. The company's progress with the FAA, U.S. military contracts, and expanding national footprint signal growing confidence in certifiable autonomy for both civilian and defense use. Reliable Robotics is now focused on scaling its technology, workforce, and operations to make air transportation safer, more affordable, and more accessible.
