Rabot Energy, a Hamburg-based climate tech startup, announced on October 14, 2026, that it has closed a US$50 million Series B funding round led by Endeit Capital. The round also included the German government-backed DeepTech & Climate Fonds and existing investors HV Capital, High-Tech Gründerfonds, Bosch Ventures, CNI, Acurio Ventures, and vent.io. The company plans to use the capital to scale its virtual power plant offering, expand services for homes and businesses in Germany, and connect more household devices.

Scaling a Virtual Power Plant

Rabot Energy's platform aggregates household batteries into a virtual power plant that charges them when renewable energy is abundant and discharges them when it is scarce. The company introduced Rabot Flow in June 2026 as an integrated solution combining a dynamic electricity tariff, a smart meter, and a plug-in battery. The system can lower average household energy costs by 15%, requires no rooftop solar, and can be installed by renters in less than two minutes through a standard socket.

Investor Confidence and Leadership Support

Sara Resvik, partner at Endeit, said the energy transition in Germany is reaching a point where flexibility is becoming as important as expanding renewable energy. She noted that Rabot Energy has built a profitable core business and developed technology to intelligently manage electricity demand at scale. Dr. Anne Hinze, senior investment manager at the DTCF, added that the company enables households to benefit from a volatile energy market through innovative tariffs and an intelligent energy management platform.

Customer Growth and Financial Milestones

Rabot Energy now counts more than 200,000 customers, including around 15,000 business and industrial clients, and has supplied over 600 million kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity. The company has grown rapidly from over 35,000 customers at its Series A in January 2024 and surpassed 100,000 customers in July 2025. Rabot Energy reports €200 million in revenue, and its customers saved around €45 million in 2025 compared to default supplier tariffs, based on company calculations.

Expanding Connected Devices and Market Reach

With the new funding, Rabot Energy aims to reach one million customers and deepen its offering for private households, commercial customers, and industrial clients in Germany. The company will further develop its technology platform and connect additional devices, including home batteries, electric vehicle chargers, and heat pumps. This expansion builds on Rabot Energy's history as a digital energy provider offering dynamic electricity tariffs since 2021, with 100% renewable energy and AI-based optimization.

Competitive Environment

Rabot Energy operates in a competitive European energy technology market that includes Tibber, Ostrom, 1KOMMA5°, and Octopus Energy's Kraken platform. Unlike Ostrom's focus on smart meter investments, Rabot Energy has chosen a plug-in battery solution that works for renters without rooftop solar. Market projections indicate virtual power plants could reach over US$9 billion by 2030, with Western Europe accounting for US$3.7 billion.

Rabot Energy's Series B round marks a significant step toward turning millions of households into active participants in Germany's power system. The company will need to increase its customer base fivefold and demonstrate that its batteries, sold at cost price, can generate income from grid services rather than only from reduced bills. With a profitable core business, strong investor backing, and an integrated hardware and software offering, Rabot Energy is positioned to help shape a flexible and renewable energy system.
