QuantrolOx and MAHE to Build Quantum Hub in India

QuantrolOx, a leader in quantum automation, has partnered with Manipal Academy of Higher Education to establish a pioneering quantum hub in India. The new Quantum-Hub@MAHE (Q-HUB@MAHE) will be located at the Manipal Institute of Technology in Bengaluru. This initiative aims to create an indigenous open-architecture quantum ecosystem to advance hardware development, research, and workforce training.


A Strategic Vision for Quantum Development

The Q-HUB@MAHE is conceived as a comprehensive platform integrating design with deployment for quantum technologies. It will unite hardware experimentation, deep-tech startup incubation, and translational research within a single academic framework. This structure is designed to significantly strengthen the quantum capabilities of both India and Europe across the entire value chain.

The project will follow a multi-phase roadmap, beginning with the deployment of sub-50 qubit training systems. It will then progress to proof-of-concept platforms of up to 150 qubits before scaling to industrial-grade systems exceeding 1,000 qubits. This ambitious plan, supported by a seven-figure deal, underscores a long-term commitment to building powerful quantum computers.

Fostering the Next Generation of Quantum Talent

A central goal of the hub is to cultivate India's next generation of quantum engineers and scientists. Prof. Iven Jose of MIT Bengaluru emphasized that direct access to quantum hardware and cryogenic systems is crucial. This hands-on experience will empower students to become system builders rather than just end-users of the technology.

To support this educational mission, the hub will feature the Quantum EDGE Academy, a virtual laboratory. This platform offers courses and interactive simulations on superconducting quantum hardware, teaching essential physics and calibration techniques. It provides students and researchers with a practical understanding of how real quantum systems operate before they enter the lab.

A Collaborative European-Indian Partnership

The initiative is built on a strong foundation of international collaboration, leveraging European technological expertise. Key partners include Bluefors for cryogenic systems, Qblox for modular control stacks, and ConScience for superconducting quantum processors. Their involvement is central to the hub's open-architecture approach, ensuring interoperability and scalability for future development.

The European partners have expressed strong support for the project's collaborative and open-source philosophy. They view this partnership as a vital step in empowering engineers with access to advanced, scalable quantum control systems. This shared vision is aimed at accelerating innovation across the entire global quantum ecosystem through practical educational tools.

This collaboration is also seen as a significant milestone in the deepening technology partnership between India and Europe. Representatives from the EIC Fund and Business Finland highlighted the project's role in fostering global innovation and trusted partnerships. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to strengthen the India-Finland innovation corridor in critical technology sectors.


Scheduled for inauguration in September 2026, the establishment of Q-HUB@MAHE marks a pivotal moment for India's quantum technology landscape. This strategic partnership between QuantrolOx and MAHE, supported by leading European firms, creates a powerful ecosystem for innovation. The hub is poised to not only advance quantum research but also build a skilled workforce ready for the future.
