Intuitivo, a Portuguese edtech startup founded in Porto in 2021, has raised €1.35 million in Seed funding to accelerate product development and expand into Brazil. The company provides a digital assessment platform that helps educators create, administer, and grade tests while reducing administrative workloads. The investment follows strong adoption in Portugal and signals growing investor confidence in tools that address teacher burnout and time pressure.
Investor Backing and Strategic Goals
The round was led by Caixa Capital and the Impact Innovation Fund, managed by 3xP Global under the Venture Capital Program of the Capitalization and Resilience Fund, known as FdCR, and managed by Banco Português de Fomento. Techstars, COREangels Lisboa, COREangels Porto, and Angels Way also participated in the financing. Intuitivo plans to use the capital to strengthen its product suite and grow its team from 11 to 20 people by the end of 2026.
Platform Features and Teacher Adoption
Intuitivo was developed in collaboration with teachers and supports multiple exercise types, including multiple choice, open responses, ordering, fill in the blank, tables, and true or false. Educators can add audio, video, musical notation, and scientific or mathematical formulas to assessments. Using artificial intelligence, the platform can generate draft tests based on topic, year group, and difficulty, and it can convert existing PDF tests into interactive digital versions ready for automatic grading.
The platform includes a searchable bank of thousands of exercises shared by teachers, allowing users to copy and edit materials or create groups to develop assessments together. Students access tests through a link without creating an account or installing software, and teachers can monitor progress in real time. Intuitivo reports that closed response exercises are graded instantly, while AI-supported grading for open responses is planned for the 2026/27 school year.
Measured Impact in Portugal
Intuitivo has signed more than 200 contracts with municipalities, school clusters, and private schools in Portugal, covering more than 500 schools and 75,000 registered teachers. During the 2025/26 school year alone, Portuguese students completed around 1 million assessments on the platform. The company estimates this saved roughly 165,000 hours of teachers' working time, underscoring the practical value of reducing repetitive assessment tasks.
Data from the OECD TALIS 2024 study reinforces the relevance of Intuitivo's mission. Teachers in Portugal report working an average of 40.5 hours per week, including 6.9 hours grading student work compared with an OECD average of 4.6 hours. Excessive grading and administrative tasks are among the main sources of stress reported by teachers, making automation an increasingly attractive solution for schools.
Expansion into Brazil
With the new funding, Intuitivo plans to accelerate its expansion into Brazil, where it estimates a potential market of 2.2 million teachers, roughly 12 times the size of the Portuguese market. The company already has a team on the ground and some Brazilian teachers using the platform. The investment will allow Intuitivo to strengthen its local presence and adapt its offering to the needs of Brazilian educators.
Intuitivo's Seed round highlights the growing demand for edtech solutions that reduce administrative burdens and give teachers more time for instruction and student support. Its traction in Portugal, combined with a clear roadmap for Brazil and AI-driven product development, positions the company for continued growth. The funding reflects broader investor interest in scalable education technologies that address measurable problems in the teaching profession.
