Physical AI company SwitchOn has successfully secured $8 million in a pre-Series B funding round to enhance its automated quality inspection systems for manufacturers. The investment was led by IvyCap Ventures, with significant participation from SIG Tattva and Trifecta Capital. This new capital is earmarked to fuel the company's international expansion, deepen research and development, and scale its global market presence.

Strategic Capital for Global Growth

The funding infusion consists of a combination of equity and debt, providing flexible capital for the company's strategic initiatives. SwitchOn plans to allocate these resources to accelerate its footprint in international markets and enhance its go-to-market capabilities. This move aims to solidify its position across key manufacturing verticals, including FMCG, electronics, automotive, and pharmaceuticals, on a global scale.

Innovating Quality Control with Advanced AI

Founded in 2017 by Aniruddha Banerjee and Avra Banerjee, SwitchOn develops AI-powered visual systems that transform manufacturing quality control. These systems automatically identify defective products on production lines, addressing a long-standing challenge of manual inspection in high-speed environments. The founders bring over a decade of combined experience in computer vision and AI from global technology leaders like Nvidia and Samsung.

The company's flagship platform, DeepInspect, utilizes edge-native computer vision to detect surface defects with remarkable precision. It can achieve sub-150-micron accuracy while processing over 1,200 products per minute. SwitchOn claims this technology can slash quality-related costs for manufacturers by as much as 50 percent, driving significant operational efficiencies.

Demonstrated Market Traction and Adoption

SwitchOn's technology has already gained significant traction, with deployments across more than 170 production lines worldwide. The systems are operational in over 60 manufacturing facilities spanning four continents, showcasing a strong and growing global footprint. Its impressive client roster includes major industry players such as Unilever, Bosch, and Maruti Suzuki, validating its market-ready solution.

This latest funding brings the company's total capital raised to approximately $13.3 million to date. It follows a successful $4.2 million Series A round in 2023, which was led by Axilor Ventures and pi Ventures. The consistent investor support highlights the company's steady progress and the market's confidence in its innovative solutions.

Investor Confidence in a Vision for Smarter Factories

Aniruddha Banerjee, Co-Founder of SwitchOn, stated that the funding will help build the infrastructure for autonomous quality intelligence globally. He emphasized that Physical AI is fundamentally changing quality inspection, a process that has remained stubbornly manual for decades. The company's long-term mission is to make zero-defect manufacturing a reality for every factory floor.

Lead investor Vikram Gupta of IvyCap Ventures praised SwitchOn for building a globally relevant platform that addresses a critical need in modern manufacturing. This sentiment was echoed by Shashvat Somany of SIG Tattva, who noted that the future of manufacturing will be built on smarter factories. Abhijit Joshi of Trifecta Capital also commended the founders' deep technical expertise and business acumen.

A Thriving Industrial AI Ecosystem

The investment in SwitchOn reflects a broader industry trend toward automating manufacturing processes with intelligent systems. Investors are showing keen interest in Physical AI startups that merge artificial intelligence with physical equipment like cameras and sensors. This shift is driven by the pressing need for improved production efficiency and reduced defects on factory floors.

This $8 million funding round marks a pivotal moment for SwitchOn, empowering the company to scale its innovative solutions on a global stage. By advancing its Physical AI platform, the startup is well-positioned to redefine industry standards for quality control. The investment not only validates SwitchOn's technology but also signals a significant step toward a future of fully autonomous and intelligent manufacturing.
