Oxano Capital, a Netherlands-based investment firm, has announced a strategic financial investment in Mujuni Ventures Ltd, a Ugandan dairy processing enterprise. The capital injection is intended to help the company scale its domestic operations and modernize its supply chain. This move positions the firm to further strengthen Uganda's dairy sector while supporting the growth of a locally rooted business.

From Milk Aggregation to Integrated Dairy

Mujuni Ventures was founded in 2019 by entrepreneur Dickson Mujuni as a milk aggregation business collecting raw milk from regional farmers. Over the years, the company has progressed up the agricultural value chain to become a full-scale dairy processor and distributor. Its portfolio is anchored by the flagship Too GooD Yogurt line and supported by a range of everyday dairy products.

Addressing Operational Constraints

Oxano Capital has earmarked the new funding to address operational bottlenecks that commonly restrict agricultural enterprises in East Africa. The investment is designed to help Mujuni Ventures scale beyond its current footprint and improve the reliability of its supply chain. These upgrades are intended to create a stronger platform for commercial growth and product diversification.

Cold-Chain and Processing Upgrades

The funding will be deployed to expand processing capacity, strengthen cold-chain infrastructure, and increase distribution across Uganda. Upgrading manufacturing facilities and temperature-controlled logistics is expected to extend product shelf life and reduce spoilage during transit. These operational improvements are critical to meeting rising consumer demand and maintaining strict food safety standards.

Market Access for Smallholder Farmers

The company sources milk from smallholder farmers in southwestern Uganda and connects them to formal markets through its expanding processing and distribution network. This structured market access helps farmers generate more consistent income while reducing barriers to reliable buyers. The investment is therefore expected to benefit both the company's commercial growth and the livelihoods of its supplier communities.

Value Chain and Development Impact

Mujuni Ventures supports a broad dairy ecosystem by providing formal market access, creating employment through its operations, and expanding consumer access to nutritious dairy products. Oxano Capital highlights the company's contribution to SDGs 1, 2, 5, 8, 12, and 13, which cover poverty reduction, food security, economic opportunity, gender inclusion, responsible production, and climate-conscious growth. These outcomes align with the investor's focus on backing businesses that generate meaningful impact alongside commercial returns.

Strategic Alignment with Oxano Capital

Oxano Capital states that Mujuni Ventures has an established farmer network, a strong understanding of the local dairy market, and experienced leadership. The investor also sees a clear opportunity to scale the company's processing and distribution capabilities. This partnership is expected to help the business enter its next phase of development with a stronger operational foundation.

A Partnership for the Next Growth Phase

Oxano Capital expressed confidence in the company's local roots, commercial potential, and capacity to create meaningful impact throughout its value chain. The investment is expected to support Mujuni Ventures as it enters a period of accelerated development and deeper market penetration. The partnership illustrates Oxano Capital's broader strategy of empowering entrepreneurs and strengthening communities through life-changing investments.

The partnership between Oxano Capital and Mujuni Ventures reflects a targeted effort to strengthen Uganda's dairy value chain from farm to consumer. By modernizing processing and cold-chain systems, the company can increase product quality and market reach while creating stable demand for local farmers. The investment underscores the growing role of locally rooted agribusinesses in advancing food security and inclusive economic development.
