Owner, a technology company building artificial intelligence tools for local businesses, has raised 240 million dollars in new financing at a 2.3 billion dollar valuation. The growth round was led by Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, with participation from Meritech, Redpoint, Headline, and Jack Altman. The company says the capital will accelerate its mission to give independent operators the same digital advantages as large national chains.

Funding Round and Valuation

The financing reflects strong investor confidence in Owner's ability to serve a large and fragmented market of local businesses. The company launched in 2020 and has grown rapidly, surpassing 100 million dollars in annual recurring revenue. This year alone, independent restaurant owners are expected to drive more than 1 billion dollars in sales through the Owner platform across the United States, reinforcing its rapid commercial momentum.

Business Momentum and Market Reach

Owner says thousands of local businesses now use its platform, and more than 100 million American consumers have interacted with it. The system supports more locations in the United States than major restaurant chains such as Domino's or Taco Bell. The company is also the top rated restaurant technology platform on Capterra and G2, according to details shared in its funding announcement.

AI Agents for Marketing and Technology

Owner is designed to act as an AI chief marketing officer and chief technology officer for local businesses. The platform builds and runs websites, online ordering, mobile apps, customer relationship management, customer support, point of sale systems, and AI phone ordering. Its automated agents manage and improve each area, enabling a restaurant owner to request a promotion and have the campaign created, updated, and published automatically.

Results for Independent Restaurants

Owner reports that restaurants grow online traffic by an average of 40 percent within 30 days of launching on the platform. The average restaurant also grows direct online revenue by more than 40 percent during its first year, based on company performance data. Customers who use a restaurant branded app reorder at twice the rate of people who do not use the app.

Founder Vision and Leadership

Adam Guild, co-founder and CEO of Owner, said the company is building AI to do the jobs many small business owners have never been able to afford rather than replace people's jobs. He noted that local restaurants now have access to the same technology advantages as the large chains they compete against. Owner's team includes leaders from Shopify, DoorDash, Compass, Salesforce, and HubSpot, and more than 35 team members are former founders.

Expansion Plans and Industry Impact

Owner's development process uses AI extensively, allowing the company to build in weeks or months what once took years. The company plans to continue serving every independent restaurant in the United States, expand internationally, and eventually apply the same AI system to new categories. It will bring these capabilities to salons, spas, independent grocers, and other local service businesses.

By providing sophisticated automation at a price point built for local operators, Owner is addressing a structural disadvantage that has long favored large chains. The new capital and multibillion dollar valuation indicate that investors see substantial room for growth in AI systems designed for small businesses. If the company executes on its expansion plans, it could help reshape how independent restaurants and other local establishments manage their marketing and technology.
