Omron Ventures Co., Ltd., headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, announced an investment in Salvador Technologies Ltd., an Israel-based startup specializing in cyber resilience and rapid recovery for operational technology and industrial control systems. The investment supports Omron's medium-term roadmap SF 2nd Stage, which pursues GEMBA DX by combining device data and field data to solve manufacturing challenges. The announcement highlights the growing significance of business continuity as production environments become more connected.

Addressing Escalating Operational Technology Risks

Manufacturing sites are expanding IT and OT integration and cloud adoption, but these advances also increase exposure to system failures and cyberattacks. The updated NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, published on February 26, 2024, added a Govern function and clarified that cybersecurity is an enterprise governance responsibility rather than merely an IT risk. As a result, resilience and rapid recovery after incidents have become essential for avoiding prolonged operational downtime.

Salvador Technologies' Recovery Capabilities

Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Israel, Salvador Technologies delivers solutions designed specifically for OT and industrial control system environments. Its platform integrates centralized backup and restore functionality, automated backup, backup integrity verification, and rapid recovery for critical systems such as HMIs, engineering workstations, and legacy infrastructure. The company also provides a Cyber Recovery Unit that boots from physically isolated, verified recovery copies to help restart essential OT equipment quickly.

Strategic Alignment With GEMBA DX

Omron Ventures pursues investments that contribute to corporate value by collaborating with startups aligned with the SF 2nd Stage roadmap. Salvador Technologies addresses cybersecurity in manufacturing, a priority area for Omron's industrial automation business. Omron expects the partnership to generate business synergies by strengthening factory uptime and supporting data-driven manufacturing solutions.

Executive Perspectives on the Partnership

Salvador Technologies CEO Amit Hammer said cyber resilience is now an essential management issue in modern manufacturing, and that prevention and detection must be complemented by fast, safe recovery capabilities. Omron Ventures President Naosuke Kamiya expressed confidence that Salvador's technology will significantly improve OT cyber resilience as AI adoption and smart factory initiatives increase. He also noted that this is the second investment in the factory automation domain this fiscal year, following the investment in Smart Craft.

Planned Collaboration and Strategic Impact

Through the investment, Omron's Industrial Automation Business Company will work with Salvador Technologies to improve stable factory operations and business continuity. Omron Field Engineering will also collaborate on security response and recovery support for manufacturing sites. These efforts are expected to accelerate the realization of GEMBA DX and strengthen Omron's data services competitiveness.
