Japan-based O-Gai Holdings has introduced OkuchiMill, a cloud platform designed to simplify home-visit dental care and improve coordination among healthcare professionals. Announced on October 22, 2026, it brings patient records, scheduling, documentation, and information sharing into one system. The service is currently in a free trial period, with a broader launch scheduled for January 2027.

Addressing Operational Pressures in Home-Visit Dentistry

Japan’s aging population is increasing the need for dental services delivered at homes and care facilities, placing additional demands on already stretched clinical teams. Beyond treatment, providers must coordinate travel, manage appointments, prepare records, and communicate with caregivers, facilities, and patients’ families. These processes often rely on disconnected paper documents, spreadsheets, telephone calls, and other tools that complicate routine workflows.

O-Gai Holdings identifies 22,674 dental clinics providing home-based services in Japan in 2023 as a potential market for the platform. Rather than presenting that figure as an existing customer base, the company describes it as a reference point for possible adoption scenarios. Its commercial strategy is to demonstrate measurable reductions in administrative work and other operating costs before expanding nationwide.

Bringing Dental Workflows Into One Platform

OkuchiMill organizes information around individual patients so that different professionals can work from a shared record while retaining role-appropriate access. Its existing functions cover appointment scheduling, treatment histories, dental charts, medications, X-rays, clinical notes, document generation, and communication with care facilities and families. Dental practices control which reports are shared, and viewing permissions vary according to professional roles and organizational relationships.

The software also uses speech transcription and AI-assisted text formatting to help dentists and dental hygienists prepare clinical documentation during or after visits. This is intended to reduce typing and repetitive form preparation in settings where direct computer use may be inconvenient. Importantly, the company says healthcare professionals remain responsible for reviewing and confirming records, while AI is not used to make diagnoses or treatment decisions.

Building a Longer-Term Oral Health Data Platform

Beyond clinic administration, O-Gai Holdings plans to develop OkuchiMill into infrastructure for tracking changes in patients’ oral health across successive appointments. Longitudinal records could eventually support analysis of treatment outcomes, identification of potential risks, and more effective allocation of home-visit resources. These applications are part of the company’s longer-term strategy rather than capabilities it has announced as fully deployed.

The proposed expansion also involves linking dental clinics with nursing facilities, care managers, visiting nurses, and other participants in patient care. Future development priorities include enhanced optical character recognition, AI-supported oral screening, integration with external dental systems, and research applications using appropriately protected data. The company says any broader use of patient information will need to comply with applicable privacy rules and medical-data guidelines.

From Municipal Pilot to Commercial Rollout

OkuchiMill traces its development to a project selected under Sakai City’s fiscal 2024 startup demonstration initiative, which examined digital collaboration between dental and elderly-care professionals. Following approximately two years of internal development, the company presented the platform at an event at Nakanoshima Qross on September 6, 2026. The October announcement marks its move from pilot development toward broader deployment.

In August 2026, O-Gai Holdings completed an additional capital increase of ¥51.1 million subscribed by founding stakeholders and business partners. The company has said the financing will help advance its dental technology activities, including software development, mobile dental services, and digital dentures. It is also seeking collaborators across healthcare, technology, research, and local government to support future platform integrations and projects.

OkuchiMill initially targets the administrative burden created by fragmented records and coordination tasks in home-visit dentistry. Its planned evolution into a broader oral health data platform will depend on adoption, clinical usefulness, secure data management, and integration with other services. With free trials underway and a January 2027 launch planned, O-Gai Holdings is positioning the product as a central component of its expanding dental healthcare operations.
