North.cloud, a financial operating system for cloud, AI, and data, has closed US$60 million in Series B funding. PeakSpan Capital led the round, with participation from Litquidity Ventures, Companyon Ventures, Alpaca, Uncommon Denominator, Gaingels, and Mana Ventures. The company will use the capital to expand autonomous optimization across cloud providers, deepen integrations, accelerate AI spend management, and scale its engineering, product, and go-to-market teams.

Cloud and AI Cost Complexity

As companies expand across Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure while adopting AI services and modern data platforms, infrastructure costs are becoming increasingly interconnected with business growth. One AI feature can touch several systems at once, which makes costs harder to predict. Most organizations still manage those costs manually across separate tools and vendor consoles, leaving engineering and finance teams to piece together fragmented data and make technology investment decisions by hand.

A Track Record of Savings

Across nearly US$2 billion in managed cloud spend, North has helped customers save more than US$400 million. Customers including Assembly AI, Atlan, Tines, SnapLogic, Emplifi, and Imply use North to reduce infrastructure waste, increase compute power per dollar of spend, and drive more sustainable AI adoption. The platform automates spend intelligence, helping companies align infrastructure costs with business growth.

FinOps as a Business Problem

Matt Biringer, CEO and co-founder of North, said the AI era has created a direct line between efficient technology investment and product intelligence. He explained that North automates FinOps in a few clicks instead of offering a dashboard that someone must interpret. Biringer added that the rest of the market still treats optimization as an engineering problem, while North sees it as a business problem that deserves a fintech platform built on automation and AI.

Platform Expansion and TokenFlow

The financing follows the launch of North v3, which expanded the platform to Microsoft Azure and completed coverage across all three major hyperscalers. That release also introduced native integrations with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Snowflake, and extended Autobot, North's automated commitment laddering engine. North is also expanding its platform to address the rapid growth of AI spend through TokenFlow, which brings model usage, attribution, budgets, and financial controls into the same system companies use to manage cloud infrastructure.

Customer Impact and Investor Confidence

Ben Gotthold, Head of Inference at AssemblyAI, said the company's effective savings rate has held steady at around 50% even as its infrastructure has scaled considerably over the past year. He noted that coverage has grown automatically and his team can focus on building for customers instead of managing the cloud bill. Sanket Merchant, Partner at PeakSpan Capital, said an estimated 30% of cloud spend is wasted before AI and data costs are counted, and North is already positioned to own the entire lifecycle of spend.

Backing a Category Leader

Yaseen Abdulridha, Vice President at PeakSpan Capital, said North's product sets the stage for something bigger than cost optimization: an agentic managed service that does the work of an entire FinOps team continuously. He added that the surface area once limited to cloud spend has expanded dramatically to cover the AI and data platforms every modern business runs on. PeakSpan's thesis is that the winner will own the entire lifecycle of spend, which North is already doing.

North was represented by Founders Form, which served as legal counsel on the round. The company aims to democratize FinOps so any company can move faster and run leaner without needing to build an internal FinOps team. With the new capital, North will continue scaling its platform and market presence as cloud, AI, and data infrastructure become a unified financial challenge.
