Adelaide-based AI startup Nitrosend has successfully secured USD $500,000 in a seed funding round led by Eastend Ventures. Founded by brothers Edward and George Hartley, the venture marks their second foray into email marketing after selling their previous company, SmartrMail, in 2022. Nitrosend aims to redefine the industry by leveraging artificial intelligence to automate and simplify marketing campaigns for businesses.

A New Paradigm in Email Marketing

Nitrosend inverts the traditional email marketing model by replacing manual processes with AI-driven automation. Instead of using drag-and-drop editors, users simply describe their campaign objectives in natural language to the platform. The system then autonomously handles the content creation, design, sending, and performance reporting, streamlining the entire workflow.

The platform is built on the open-standard Model Context Protocol, allowing it to be controlled directly through AI agents like Claude or ChatGPT. This deep integration enables the automation of complex tasks such as welcome sequences, abandoned cart recovery, and customer segmentation. Consequently, it empowers small and mid-sized businesses to execute sophisticated marketing strategies without needing a dedicated team.

Experienced Founders and Early Momentum

The Hartley brothers bring a wealth of experience to their new venture, having previously scaled SmartrMail to send over six billion emails. They have reassembled their core team, including former Chief Technology Officer Kam Low, to build upon their past successes. Co-founder George Hartley noted that the tool was initially developed to solve their own needs before realizing its broader market appeal.

The company is already demonstrating significant early momentum since launching its pre-launch beta in April. Nitrosend has attracted 190 early users, with its email volume reportedly doubling on a weekly basis. This rapid adoption signals strong market validation and a clear demand for its innovative AI-native approach to email marketing.

Strategic Investment in a Shifting Market

The US$500,000 seed round was led by Eastend Ventures, with participation from Melbourne's Archangel Ventures and Sydney-based Aussie Angels. The investment aligns with Eastend's strategy of backing experienced B2B software founders in key Australian states. This funding will fuel Nitrosend's growth and further development of its groundbreaking platform.

Josh Garratt, Founding Partner at Eastend Ventures, highlighted the founders' proven track record as a key factor in the investment decision. He stated that backing experienced entrepreneurs who understand a market being reshaped by AI is precisely the kind of opportunity Eastend seeks. The firm is confident in the team's ability to build a global leader from their Adelaide headquarters.

With fresh capital and a seasoned team, Nitrosend is well-positioned to disrupt the email marketing landscape for small and medium-sized enterprises. The company's AI-first approach promises to democratize powerful marketing tools that were previously out of reach for many businesses. This Adelaide-born startup represents a significant development in the application of AI to solve real-world business challenges.
