Berlin-based DeepTech innovator Nanolope has successfully closed an €800,000 pre-seed financing round to advance its high-density thermal energy storage technology. The investment was led by IBB Ventures through its B# ("be sharp") fund, with participation from experienced business angels and industry experts. This crucial funding will enable the company to tackle energy inefficiency in existing buildings with its unique, retrofittable panel solutions.

Addressing the Building Sector's Energy Challenge

The European building sector represents one of the largest consumers of energy, posing a significant environmental and economic challenge for the continent. Many existing properties suffer from poor thermal performance and outdated heating systems, leading to high carbon emissions and substantial operational costs. Nanolope aims to solve this by providing an accessible alternative to expensive and disruptive renovations that are often unfeasible for property owners.

Innovative Thermal Storage Technology

At the core of its offering, Nanolope has developed patent-protected thermal panels that transform walls, ceilings, and floors into passive energy storage systems. This innovative technology helps maintain a stable indoor climate by absorbing and releasing heat, significantly reducing the need for active heating and cooling. The company claims its solution can lower energy costs by up to 50 percent while storing up to 24 times more heat than conventional building boards.

A Focus on Sustainability and Practicality

Sustainability is a foundational principle for Nanolope, which develops its materials in accordance with the principles of green chemistry. The panels are crafted from renewable, plant-based raw materials sourced within the EU and are manufactured without the use of rare earths. Being highly recyclable and installable in under 24 hours, the solution offers a practical and environmentally conscious choice for property upgrades.

Strategic Funding for Growth and Expansion

The newly acquired capital will be instrumental in advancing Nanolope's commercialization strategy and scaling its operational capacity. The company plans to utilize the €800,000 to increase the production of its thermal storage systems and strategically expand its core team. Furthermore, the funding will support the implementation of initial pilot projects with housing companies and commercial property operators to demonstrate the technology's effectiveness.

Investor Confidence and Market Vision

Investor confidence in Nanolope's mission is strong, with Sabine Wolff, Principal at IBB Ventures, highlighting the team's expertise and ambition to set new industry standards. Co-founder and CEO Dr. Felix Marske emphasized that their solution targets the critical need for retrofittable and economical options in existing buildings. This shared vision directly addresses the urgent demand for accessible energy efficiency upgrades in the vast property sector.

This pre-seed funding round marks a pivotal moment for Nanolope, empowering it to address a critical gap in the sustainable building and renovation market. By offering a practical, eco-friendly, and effective technology, the company is well-positioned to significantly impact the energy efficiency of existing properties. Nanolope's innovative approach represents a promising step forward in making buildings more climate-friendly and economical for the future.
