Mistlabs, a U.S. developer of cross-platform ambient intelligence technologies, has launched Ambi out of beta on Apple devices. The new system conducts real-time reasoning and will introduce agent-to-agent communication between AI-enabled devices in the coming months. The launch follows a US$26 million Pre-Series A funding round led by Luminous Ventures and Huaqin, which will support the development of a standalone AI wearable.
A New Kind of Ambient Intelligence
Peter Mo, CEO of Mistlabs, describes Ambi as an always available live counsel rather than a summarizer. He said most AI platforms today are built around completing tasks, but Ambi answers a different question about real-time understanding and action. The system is designed to move beyond prompt-driven AI by reasoning continuously and delivering proactive outcomes.
Cross-Device Availability
Initially available on Apple devices, Ambi is compatible with iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, and MacBook, running iOS 18 or macOS where applicable. The system builds a contextual understanding of the user throughout the day across these devices, rather than waiting for a query. This allows it to identify opportunities to proactively deliver an outcome and carry understanding from one device to another.
Funding and Hardware Roadmap
The US$26 million Pre-Series A round will fund the development of Mistlabs' standalone AI wearable, which is expected later this year. While Ambi currently operates on iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, and MacBook, the company plans to extend its intelligence into purpose-built hardware. This additional context is intended to make memory, recommendations, and routines more personalized over time.
Real-Time Reasoning and Routines
Ambi's Routine feature calls on multiple agents to conduct recurring tasks and can analyze meetings as they happen. During a competitor discussion, for example, it can fact-check the conversation, cross-reference competing products, and organize information into a draft proposal. Even after a meeting ends, the system continues monitoring project lifecycles and flags missing information or new developments that require attention.
Agent-to-Agent Communication
When two users with Ambi-compatible devices meet, their respective agents can communicate with one another based on user-granted permissions. Each agent draws on its understanding of its own user to identify shared priorities, surface disagreements, and suggest mutually acceptable outcomes. This capability is designed to support real-time negotiations during meetings and will be further expanded in the coming months.
Privacy by Design
Ambi is designed with user privacy in mind, and audio is not stored by default. The system's architecture supports real-time reasoning without retaining sensitive audio recordings unless users choose otherwise, and agent interactions are governed by user-granted permissions. This approach is intended to balance continuous contextual awareness with responsible data handling and user control.
Memory and Continuous Context
Ambi retains insights in its memory, allowing understanding, routines, and ongoing actions to carry seamlessly from one device to another. This continuity means an action initiated on an Apple Watch can continue on a MacBook or iPhone without losing context. Over time, the system builds a deeper understanding of user preferences, priorities, and communication style.
Mistlabs positions Ambi as a move beyond task management, summarization, and one-off recommendations. The company's upcoming wearable AI hardware is expected to provide richer context and extend ambient intelligence to new device types. With cross-platform availability and agent mediation on the horizon, Ambi signals an early step toward more autonomous and collaborative AI systems.
