Micromax Informatics, a prominent Indian technology company, has announced the launch of a family office with a substantial corpus of ₹250 crore, equivalent to nearly $26 million. This strategic initiative is designed to support and invest in the next generation of deep-tech startups across India and other global markets. The move underscores the company's commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening the ecosystem for ventures developing critical, cutting-edge technologies.

Strategic Investment Focus and Financial Scope

The family office will concentrate its investments in startups operating within key deep-tech sectors, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, defence, space technology, and robotics. It will primarily target companies ranging from the pre-Series A to Series B funding stages. The investment thesis is centered on backing businesses that are building differentiated technologies and scalable intellectual property with strong global potential.

With an average initial ticket size planned between ₹10 crore and ₹20 crore, the firm is looking for founders with a clear vision for scale. Aakil Garg, Investment Head at Micromax Informatics, emphasized that the selection process will prioritize ventures where their ecosystem can add significant value beyond capital. While the family office has already started deploying funds, specific details of its initial investments have not yet been made public.

Leveraging an Integrated Ecosystem for Growth

Micromax intends to offer its portfolio companies far more than just financial resources, providing them with strategic access to its extensive industry network. This support system is designed to help founders accelerate their growth and navigate the complex journey from innovation to commercialization. The initiative aims to empower startups by providing the tools and partnerships needed to overcome common hurdles in product development and market entry.

Selected founders will gain direct access to the capabilities of the broader Micromax group, including MiPhi Semiconductors and manufacturing powerhouse Bhagwati Products. This integration offers invaluable access to a semiconductor technology network, global partnerships, and established supply-chain expertise. The hands-on support will guide startups through product development, manufacturing scale-up, and achieving commercial viability on a larger scale.

Fostering a New Wave of Technological Advancement

Rahul Sharma, Co-founder of Micromax Informatics, highlighted that deep-tech ventures are at the forefront of a technology-led transformation that will shape the future. He stated that the family office aims to provide founders with the resources and industry expertise necessary to convert breakthrough ideas into impactful solutions. The ultimate vision is to help create sustainable businesses that can compete on a global stage and drive economic progress.

This launch positions Micromax among a growing number of Indian corporate and family offices that are actively investing in the nation's burgeoning startup landscape. This trend reflects a broader shift in investment strategy, moving towards high-growth technology ventures as the Indian ecosystem matures. By joining this movement, Micromax is contributing to a vital source of capital and mentorship for innovative new companies.

The establishment of Micromax's ₹250 crore family office marks a pivotal step in supporting India's deep-tech innovation. By combining strategic capital with its robust manufacturing and technology ecosystem, the company is poised to make a significant impact on the startup landscape. This initiative will not only accelerate the growth of promising ventures but also bolster India's position as a hub for advanced technology and industrial development.
