Lovable has announced the acquisition of European cloud provider Molnett, strengthening its mission to build software that builds software. The deal brings Molnett’s cloud technology and full team into Lovable, reinforcing the infrastructure behind its AI driven application development platform. With this move, Lovable positions itself to support the next wave of users who want to turn ideas into production ready software without deep technical expertise.
Lovable's Vision for Democratized Software
Lovable is focused on helping what it calls the 99 percent, people and organizations that are not traditional software powerhouses, transform ideas into functional applications. Its platform allows users to generate full stack software, ranging from simple websites to complex AI powered tools, using an accessible and automated development experience. To scale this model to tens of millions of builders globally, Lovable requires a robust, secure and highly scalable infrastructure layer.
Why Molnett Fits Lovable's Strategy
Molnett has spent years building secure, sovereign cloud infrastructure that is designed to be simple to operate while scaling seamlessly as customer needs grow. Lovable’s CTO and co-founder Fabian Hedin said Molnett brings “some of the most talented infra engineers in the world” into the company and directly supports the ambition to build a generational European technology business. By combining Lovable’s application platform with Molnett’s infrastructure capabilities, the company aims to become the default environment where mainstream users build and run software.
Integrating Molnett's Cloud Infrastructure
Under the terms of the deal, Lovable has acquired the technology behind the Molnett platform as well as its intellectual property. The Molnett platform itself will not continue as a standalone cloud provider, and its technology will instead be absorbed and further developed inside Lovable’s core stack. This integration is expected to create a unified environment where users can both build and operate software on a world class platform that is tightly coupled end to end.
Impact on Molnett's Customers and Team
Molnett’s existing customers have been assisted in transitioning to alternative providers before the platform is fully folded into Lovable. The entire Molnett team, including co founder Mikael Knutsson and colleagues such as Jonathan Grahl and Sascha Eglau, will join Lovable to continue developing infrastructure capabilities from within the company. Knutsson noted that Molnett initially set out to build a European cloud provider, and he views Lovable’s ambition to build “the last piece of software” as a natural evolution of that vision.
European Roots and Shared Values
Both companies emphasize a commitment to European values, digital sovereignty and empowering a broad base of users rather than a narrow technical elite. The Molnett team highlighted that some of the best cloud platforms in history emerged from solving internal needs at visionary companies, and they see a similar pattern at Lovable, which is building infrastructure to support its own AI driven development platform. Investors, partners and design collaborators from across Sweden and Europe, including backers such as Further than Capital and Superangel, were credited with helping Molnett reach this milestone.
With the acquisition of Molnett, Lovable is tightening the link between its AI powered development tools and the underlying infrastructure that runs user applications. The company believes this combination will allow it to deliver greater reliability, security and scalability as it works to make software creation accessible to millions more people. As Molnett’s technology and team are integrated, Lovable aims to move closer to its goal of becoming the platform where the majority of the world builds and operates software.
