LincRide, a Lagos-based mobility technology company, has expanded its portfolio with the launch of an on-demand ride-hailing service in Lagos. The new offering allows passengers to book rides directly through WhatsApp, eliminating the need to download a separate rider application. More than 3,000 verified drivers are available at launch, and the company is promoting what it describes as the lowest driver commission in the city.

A Booking Experience Built on WhatsApp

The service removes a common barrier for commuters by using WhatsApp as the primary booking channel. Riders simply send a message to LincRide at 0705 179 7935 or click the dedicated WhatsApp link to begin. They then share a pickup point and destination, and the system automatically matches them with a verified driver while delivering the driver's details and estimated arrival time in the same chat.

Driver Verification and Partner Tools

Every LincRide driver completes identity and vehicle verification before accepting a first trip. Once onboarded, drivers use the LincRide partner app to manage trip requests, navigate to pickups, and track earnings in real time. According to the company, this process supports rider safety while helping to build a professional community of drivers who take pride in their work.

Commission Structure and Driver Earnings

LincRide is launching with a tiered commission model that starts at 7.5% for the first five completed rides each day. That rate drops to 2.5% for every additional ride during the same day, a structure the company says rewards drivers who work longer hours. Total per-trip deductions include the commission and applicable regulatory charges, including 7.5% VAT.

Leadership Comments and Strategic Vision

Tobiloba Osinubi, Head of Operations and Business Development Lead at LincRide, said drivers are at the center of the launch. He emphasized that the verification process is about safety and building a community of professionals, while the partner app provides clear real-time visibility into requests, trips, and earnings. Osinubi also noted that drivers in Lagos often work long hours and that the new commission structure is designed to help them keep more of every fare.

Expanding Beyond Carpooling

The ride-hailing launch builds on LincRide's existing carpooling service, which connects commuters traveling along similar routes to share rides and split costs. While carpooling matches people already heading in the same direction, the new on-demand service provides individual trips for customers who need a private ride. Faith Nkenchor, Product Manager at LincRide, said the company wants accessing a ride to be as straightforward as possible.

How to Access the New Service

Passengers can book a ride by sending a WhatsApp message to 0705 179 7935 or by clicking https://wa.lincride.com. Drivers who want to join the platform can sign up online and begin the verification process. The company is positioning the service as a simpler alternative to app-based ride-hailing for people with limited phone storage or data.

Context for Lagos Commuters

Commuters in Lagos often face busy roads, complex pickup coordination, and limited access to reliable transport at short notice. Many established ride-hailing platforms require users to download, install, and register on a separate app before requesting a trip. LincRide's WhatsApp-first model removes that step entirely, making the service faster for first-time users and more accessible for people with older devices or limited data.

By combining WhatsApp-based booking, verified drivers, and a commission structure that rewards daily activity, LincRide is offering Lagos commuters a practical alternative to traditional ride-hailing platforms. The launch reflects the company's broader goal of building mobility solutions around how people move and live every day. With both carpooling and on-demand ride-hailing now available, LincRide is positioning itself as a flexible option for different travel needs across the city.
