Polish space technology company KP Labs has secured €4.42 million (PLN 19.4 million) from Momentum Capital Partners to accelerate its on-orbit satellite data processing business. The announcement comes as satellite data volumes are growing faster than the capacity to transmit information back to Earth. The investment will support research, product development, and the scaling of international sales activities.
Closing the Orbital Data Gap
Satellites now generate far more data than they can reliably downlink, creating a bottleneck for operators, scientists, and security agencies. KP Labs addresses this challenge with proprietary solutions that analyze data directly in orbit and select only the most critical information for transmission. This approach reduces costs and accelerates the delivery of actionable insights to Earth.
Proven Technology and Major Partnerships
KP Labs offers specialized processing units, firmware, and artificial intelligence algorithms for on-board data handling. Its customers include the European Space Agency, NASA, Airbus Defense and Space, OHB Hellas, and Thales Alenia Space. This client base reflects the company's credibility across civil, commercial, and institutional space markets.
Mission Heritage from Orbit to the ISS
The company's Intuition-1 satellite operated in orbit from 2023 to 2026 and collected Earth observation data on soil conditions, vegetation, and pollution. KP Labs technology has also been used aboard the International Space Station, where Polish astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski ran algorithms designed for lunar mapping. In addition, the company is involved in CAMILA, a Polish national space mission aimed at developing a satellite constellation for Earth monitoring.
Investor Confidence in a Capital Efficient Model
Michał Zachara, CEO of KP Labs, said the company has built strong capabilities and developed solutions proven in real space missions over the past several years. Jeremi Doboszewski, Investment Manager at Momentum Capital Partners, emphasized that KP Labs shows it is possible to build a growing and profitable business around advanced technology while maintaining strong capital efficiency. He added that the company has established what Momentum believes is one of the leading offerings in the European space market.
Scaling Production and Commercial Reach
The new funding will strengthen research and development capabilities and support the expansion of the company's commercial product portfolio. KP Labs plans to establish serial production of its hardware and scale its international sales and marketing activities. These steps are intended to move the company beyond project-based work and into broader commercial deployment.
Strategic Importance for European Space Autonomy
The investment also reflects a broader shift toward autonomous satellite operations and real-time space data analysis. As orbital density increases, the ability to process information on board becomes important for defense, environmental monitoring, and commercial applications. KP Labs' focus on in-orbit intelligence supports European efforts to reduce reliance on ground-based data processing.
KP Labs has demonstrated that advanced on-orbit data processing can deliver real mission value for space agencies and private operators. The €4.42 million investment from Momentum Capital Partners provides capital to industrialize proven technology and reach more customers. As orbital activity and data demand continue to grow, the company is positioned to play a larger role in the European space economy.
